Anyway, either you look into it, and find, like I did, that they are unreasonable and toxic, or you don't.

So I have had similar experiences with liberal instances. Why is it okay for my comments to be removed and for me to get banned for acknowledging that NATO encirclement of Russia exists or that the Euromaidan was a coup or that the US/NATO sabotaged ceasefire negotiations early in the conflict or that the goal of the war is to kill as many Russians as possible?

I accept being treated like this, because I understand that when I'm in lemmy.world or other liberal instances I am going to be speaking out against the liberal consensus. It's their instance, they can moderate how they like and I accept that.

So when I see lemmy.ml doing the same thing to liberals it's hard for me to see the problem.

There's a difference, I think, between instances moderating as they wish and blocking entire instances. That should really be the last resort.

Just let mods be mods, there's no need to turn this into some kind of Lemmy civil war and start unpersoning your enemies.

When instances become instruments of propaganda for Putin/Xi/Kim and ban people who expose such propaganda, they fully deserve to be blocked. They've become instruments of the enemies of civil society.

It's the moderation practices of those instances that put them in the corner of "sectarian shit". The rest of us don't need to tolerate such toxicity.

But when instances become instruments of propaganda for NATO/US/EU and ban people who expose such propaganda, that's fine.

I tolerate the toxicity of .world and other liberal instances, but maybe I shouldn't. Maybe I should just join lemmygrad so I never have to get attacked again for disagreeing with the liberal consensus and be treated like an enemy. I'd probably hit myself less.

Huh? How is the Nakba anything other than the work of fascists? Remember that the only reason the death toll in the Nakba was "only" a little north of ten thousand people was because Israelis didn't have the weapons of mass destruction they have today and Palestinians weren't stuck in an open air concentration camp. Fundamentally what the IDF was doing in 1948 isn't much different from what it's doing today, and you should look up what they were doing to Palestinians within their borders until the six-day war.

The Nakba was a tragedy, and Ben has his role in that along with all the other high ups in the various paramilitary forces. The IDF didn't exist then, though it does trace its routes back to those paramilitary groups.

Fair enough. I'm still going to call the average Israeli a fascist from the start (something something settlements), but I guess their ruling class was too committed to the idea of a democratic Zionist state to allow a true fascist society to develop until Oslo and the lead up to the assassination of Rabin. The way I see it, the assassination of Rabin—rather than being a sign of a fundamental change—was things snapping back into place. The Israeli leadership had simply come to represent more accurately the people.

You're right in that Rabin's assassination wasn't the change in itself (that such Israeli extremists had continued to exist shows that that violent current in Israel had continued and been bubbling away), but it makes a good mark of a turning point and the loss of really any chance for reconciliation in at least our lifetimes.

It still explains why this is happening. You can't rely on Cina to build your military systems if they are for a war on China.

The U.S. has a surprising amount of known rare earth deposits but the deposits aren’t really being explored extensively, much less mined because of economic reasons. The U.S. has the 4th largest lithium deposits, for example, but to mine it wouldn’t be competitive.

A mean, a year ago, I would have said, it’s just cheaper to buy them on global markets than mine them in California. But we’ll see how broke these tariffs make us. We might all have lithium lung and be paid in company scrip again in 15 years.

Trump isn't stupid, at least not that stupid. Your analogy would work better if instead of shooting his own foot he's shooting Uncle Sam's foot. You act confused because you think he works for Uncle Sam. He does not. He's a Russian asset: his job is to make sure Uncle Sam never walks again, while pretending he's not doing it on purpose so he can keep doing it.

When you look at it that way, all his actions make perfect sense. He works for Putin and he's doing a good job. Until people realize this he'll keep sabotaging the US.
