The 10th nuclear scientist was killed shortly after the other nine, as part of the overnight Thursday-Friday Israeli operation, which included strikes on Iran’s ballistic missile program and the Natanz nuclear site, along with the elimination of top members of the Islamic Republic’s military leadership, the network says.

The nuclear scientists were all killed while they were sleeping in their beds, with Israel deciding to carry out the assassinations simultaneously so that there wouldn’t be time to tip off those being targeted.

The scientists apparently believed they were safe from such targeting in their homes, a senior Israeli official tells Channel 12, noting that previously assassinated nuclear scientists were killed while heading to their cars after work.

Israel had been tracking Iranian nuclear scientists for years and the ten killed last week were marked for assassination in November of last year, Channel 12 says.

I had been going back and forth between the coast a lot, and I got to be the passenger for one of the trips. With a piece in mind about hurtling through the trees at sixty miles per hour, I had turned the shutter speed to two seconds (too much blur, can’t tell what stuff is) and settled on a single second. The use of voice assistants (VAs) in family homes is growing, likely due to their usefulness in navigating the complexities of family life. Parents evaluated their own and their children’s usage frequency, connectedness, and potentially influencing variables (divided into the categories social feelings, utility, and anthropomorphization). Social feelings that fulfill a hedonistic-utilitarian purpose (enjoyment and sadness when gone) were found to positively influence usage frequency. Social feelings that suggest that the VA takes over an intimate social role (of a friend) had no significant influence and were rather low. Parents appear to rather view and appreciate the VA as a useful and enjoyable tool; viewing a VA as a friend appears to be met with resistance. This emphasizes the necessity to distinguish between social feelings that are driven by hedonistic-utilitarian motives and those that imply the satisfaction of social needs.

The conservative-dominated supreme court voted by seven to two to back a challenge by oil and gas companies, along with 17 Republican-led states, to a waiver that California has received periodically from the federal government since 1967 that allows it to set tougher standards than national rules limiting pollution from cars. The state has separately stipulated that only zero-emission cars will be able to sold there by 2035.

Although states are typically not allowed to set their own standards aside from the federal Clean Air Act, California has been given unique authority to do so via a waiver that has seen it become a pioneer in pushing for cleaner cars.
