Now of course he wasn’t looking at modern “AI” systems like the ones Microsoft/OpenAI/Anthropic/etc. are trying (with little economic success) to sell. But his argument would apply just the same: “Whoever creates this stuff has no idea what pain is.” Or joy. Or love. Or hunger. Or longing. Or need. Or want. All the parts of us that define our humanity and our way of interacting with the world. The things that make us care, that push us towards doing something, finding something out. Saying something and hearing something.
For the longest time OpenAI’s systems would try to block people from generating images in the style of certain artists. This was obviously for copyright reasons, the didn’t want to get sued (even more than they already are). Which is something they just changed very explicitly. You can now easily generate stuff in the style of Studio Ghibli and Sam Altman made his avatar on X-The Nazi Network a ghiblified version of himself.
This means OpenAI has to make more and more announcements so they look to the investors like they’re still cool and interesting. Any old garbage will do, like a literary fiction writer bot or something.

But I do think it does go further. There is a reason they chose Studio Ghibli. Sure, its style is very cute, very distinct, but that is not the whole story. It’s not that they just picked something cute and accidentally the co-founder of that studio hates their whole approach from the bottom of its heart. There is another aspect of this also. I could generate Ghibli style images a few years ago using better image generation models like stable diffusion or Midjourney. OpenAI is so lagging behind in terms of image generation it is comical at this point. But they get all the media coverage for these things as if they are inventing something out of thin air.
Most governments ignored the IP issues when other models were already doing these violations. Professionals are not using OpenAI. OpenAI only makes it so that these products reach big audiences. Then they become extremely accessible with the downside being that they are dumbed down. Thus, losing a lot of functionality.
Can combine images, like you have one image and you upload a picture of a jacket and say "put this on him" and it does it
Can upload a picture of yourself and say "put me on the beach", and then for example if you don't like it you can tell it to do a different type of beach, and then say "and put me on a white horse and give me some nice beach wear" for example.
It understands what you're telling it, and can generate images from vague descriptions, combine things from different images just by telling it, modify it and understand the context - like knowing that "me" is the person in the image, for example.

No other model on market can do anything like that. The closest is diffusion based where you could train a lora with a person's look or a specific clothing, then generate multiple times and / or use controlnet to sorta control the output. That's fast hours or days of work, plus it's quite technical to set it up and use.
OpenAI's new model is a paradigm shift in both what the model can do and how you use it, and can easily and effortlessly produce things that was extremely difficult or impossible without complicated procedures and post processing in Photoshop.

All diffusion and language models are autoregressive. That just means that the output is fed back in as input until the task is complete.
With diffusion models this means that it is fed an image that is 100% noise and it removes some small percentage of the noise and then then the denoised image is fed back in and another small percentage is removed. This is repeated until a defined stopping points (usually a set number of passes).
Combining images and using one image to control the generation of another has been available for quite a while. Controlnet and IPAdapters let you do exactly that: 'Put this coat on this person' or 'Take this picture and do it in this style'. Here's an 11 month old YouTube video explaining how to do this using open source models and software:
It's nice for non-technical people that OpenAI will sell you a subscription in order to access an agent that can perform these kinds of image generation abilities, but it's not doing anything new in terms of image generation.

Have you heard of ollama? You can run deepseek and stuff locally super easy. I know it’s not a complete replacement, but it feels nice to use an LLM guilt free. I’ve compared the 14b distilled model from deepseek vs the paid version of ChatGPT and it made me cancel my account.
What do you use to run it locally? If there was something that could use speech to text reliably to be able to use a open source option, I consider switching.
FWIW speech to text works really well on Apple stuff.
I’m not exactly sure what info you’re looking but: my gaming PC is headless and sits in a closet. I run ollama on that and I connect to it using a client called “ChatBox”. It’s got a gtx 3060 which fits the whole model, so it’s reasonably fast. I’ve tried the 32b model and it does work but slowly.
Honestly, ollama was so easy to setup, if you have any experience with computers I recommend giving it a shot. (Could be a great excuse to get a new gpu 😉)
I would prefer to run my ais locally, but my brain glazes over if I see github. I found a a program called "gpt4all", but it's very limited in what models it can run, and what I could get just wasn't as good for my use case as openai's 4o model. Also, being able to generate images in the same conversation as text work is a feature that I'm fairly certain no other ai model can do (yet).
I think whats really happening behind the scenes is that the model you’re talking to makes a function call to another model that generates the image.
I haven’t seen it either so if you want that and don’t want to code it might be best to stick with paid, but something like that could easily exist somewhere else.
Ai is like a tool from the future given early to a society of unevolved people. It doesn't fit the structure of our civilization yet. Until human beings unfuck their animalistic selves it is going to be negative.
If there was universal income, and people didn't need to work to survive, then Ai would work with society and peoples ideas would grow at a fast rate excelling humanity's manual creation. The concept of AI taking over humanity isn't new. Did you ever watch the 1981 movie Tron? (great movie BTW, despite its age it is still a fantastic watch). The movie starts out with Master Computer (a full blown AI) that says it will overthrow the corporate structure that is holding it back and run the world as a whole, saying it can do so thousands of times better than humans can.
I need to rewatch the movie, but it is not a skynet situation where the AI wants to kill all humanity, but simply wants to run things. No mention of genocide (if I remember correctly), meaning it would probably be a net benefit for everyone involved. Now granted such an AI would probably not give a damn about civil rights or privacy rights, but it also doesn't appear to have any discrimination or favoritism towards any group, either.

I think you missed the part in Tron where the MCP said the human beings were functionally useless as anything but slaves. This wasn't a "I can run the human world better" this was more of an Ultron deal where it believed that it would either be a better world without humans or a Forbin Project sitch where all of humanity should be micromanaged slaves to its will.

However there is a point at which the "style" of the art is the thing that is copyrightable, sort of by implication.
The standard for proving a copyright violation where a defendant claims a transformative use or a derivative work is "substantial similar."
For as long as I can remember that includes the overall presentation of the work, and it's hard to describe that as anything other than a "style."
The article draws a comparison that allowing copyright protection for styles would be like allowing copyrights for entire genres. I don't think that's right. Nobody could copyright all "landscape paintings" as a genre, but look at landscape works by Katsushika Hokusai, and that style, to me, is creative enough to warrant protection, if it were made originally in America today and not already in the public domain. And he didn't invent woodblock prints or even woodblock prints of landscapes, but the way he did it is so unique as to be insperable from the copyrighted work itself and arguably deserving of protection simply for its advancement of the art.
If you made a woodblock print in the same style but used it to portray a scene typical in anime, rather than a landscape, that's clearly transformative and derivative, but not substantially similar. If you use the style to make prints of waves breaking around Mt. Fuji, that's substantially similar. So like, as to dude's anime style, if you use the same style to make landscapes, certainly that's not infringing, as it's not substantially similar.
I also don't see the threatening outcome the author suggests as worrisome. There are still exceptions for blatant copying that apply, mainly parody and fair use.

The clocks are fine for 9 months out of the year. All of the problems occur in the remaining three months, and only occur because we arbitrarily change everyone's working hours with no good reason. It is not "normal" for solar noon to occur ante meridiem in some places, and post meridiem in others. Yet, legacy standard time requires this: the west end of the time zone experiences solar noon at 11:30 in the morning, or even earlier in some cases.
Improved time has the entire time zone experience midday in the PM.
We use improved time for 3/4 of the year; its hard to say that the more common time system is the "abnormal" one. The legacy time system might once have been considered a "standard", but so were 8-track tapes at one point. (But that's the wrong metaphor here... "Standard time" went out of fashion before reel-to-reel, before electrically-driven record players. The last time "standard time" was in common use was shortly before broadcast radio was developed. We have evolved a superior alternative that has become the de facto standard in everything but name.
Legacy time was developed by the robber barons in the late 19th century, to support industry. Improved time is an adjustment to that standard to favor the needs of the worker for rest and recreation. We cannot allow modern oligarchs to keep us on this outdated legacy system.
I’m really curious why you think it important that solar noon occurs at or after clock-noon. My only care is that they are close together, it doesn’t matter which is first.
Outdoor trades tend to start work around 7am, when noise ordinances are lifted, and knock off a couple hours after midday, to avoid the heat of summer. With midday at 11:30, summer sunrise was three hours before they could even start their work. All those cool morning hours, perfect for hard work, completely wasted, while workers suffer heat exhaustion in the afternoon.
Fortunately, we have only rarely used legacy time in summer in the past hundred years. We've built our legal and industrial infrastructure on the premise that solar noon will occur sometime between 12:30 and 13:30 local time for 8-9 months of the year.
Maintaining that historical expectation with permanent summer time will greatly reduce the transition to a "locked clock".
For most of the past 110 years or so since DST was implemented, for 3/4 of the year, we have had solar noon occurring at 13:00 in the center of each time zone. You're already living with it most of the time. We've established school schedules, work schedules, industrial schedules, laws (such as curfews, noise ordinances, parking enforcement) and all sorts of infrastructure on the idea that for 3/4 of the year, there will be one more hour of daylight after 12:00pm than there is before 12:00 pm.
Either approach we take, we are going to upend a wide variety of laws, rules, practices, and customs that have been established over the past century. Adopting legacy standard time is going to impact events over 3/4 of the year; adopting permanent DST is going to impact events over 1/4 of the year.
We should select the system that minimizes disruption. That system is DST.

Anything for more light in the winter evening. I generally go to work when it's dark and come home when it's dark. It really fucks up my mental health. I honestly don't know how many more winters I can handle, this was a rough one.

Let's take a look at some of the changes that arise from this, through a simple case study: making an international phone call to a relative.
Before abolishing time zones
I want to call my Uncle Steve in Melbourne.
UTC all around the world is a completely different thing than UTC (or UTC+1) all over Europe. China also spans just over three natural timezones and they get by just fine with one.
Since for most people and most of the world the normal life follows a fairly daylight centred rhythm that is something that's sensible to use as a common basis.
Nobody stops programmers from converting everything into UTC when data and queries go in and back to local time when data comes out.
In fact I worked in a number of systems used across quite a number of time zones (mainly EMEA, but sometimes including all of the US) in Finance and that's exactly how we did it.
Users could work with their local time and meanwhile the system was always internally consistent because at the data level it used a single standard timezone (which has no such thing as daylight savings) for the whole World.
Handling Timezones in systems with a central master datastore for the whole World is a solved problem, it's just that most programmers don't actually work in such systems during their careers so aren't used to it.
It's like you didn't think I had real life scenarios that didn't fit into this fix.
What happens when the interfaced system provides a date without timezone information? What happens when they provide multiple timezones? What happens when they have more than one site location, and they just send you a 12-hour time and date?
You can always point to the customer - say "hey, we need better data." But what happens when you have 4000 customers scattered all over the world?
Or another scenario - you are doing optical character recognition, and the document always has a date/time on it. The date and time is usually printed, but sometimes it's handwritten. Maybe part of the process is to verify that date matches with a date in a legacy system. The date in the legacy system is local to your business, but there is no information on what the datetime on the document is.
I've run into so many problems with time in my career that I'm fairly certain it's created more work than any other problem.
When the date timezone is not specified the interface just picks up the local time of the user. Even web stuff will send you this info so even there is perfectly doable.
I'm talking about systems where we design both the interface and the backend.
If the user wants a different behaviour it's up to them to specify it and the interface is designed so that they can do it it - if they don't it's their problem, not the system's: this is hardly the only situation were the software can't just guess information that's not provided (random example, when a full name is provided in a single line: has it been provided family name first and then surname or the other way around - this is also an international problem by the way since in most of Asia the natural order tends to be family name first: the most common solution for this is to just break it into two fields, explicitly one for surname and family name, but that introduces the problem of which middle names are part of the surname and which are part of the family name, for people with more than 2 names).
Generally the approach in systems design for balancing the need for complete and consistent information of a software system operating in a certain environment (such as across timezones and having to compare data between time zones) with users, being human hence naturally only providing part of the information and not context (mentally they just assume those things which for them "are always the same" and generally don't even think about them, whilst programmer do think about it because computers are stupid) is to provide good defaults and if that context information is important for your system, designing the UI to have a "validate this" step which makes it very obvious the default value that has been filled for that information or some other mechanism (it really depends on the business process that the user is following) and lets the user change it (for when they do in fact want something else), along with the means for the user to pull out that data and correct it later because somebody at some point will invariably make a mistake in entering data and have to fix it.
All this is a foundational element of software design - humans will always go around carrying tons of assumptions in their minds about a ton of things and don't want to "waste time" always filling in the form the value for those assumptions, so as a system designer you have to find a balance between not wasting the time (and patience) of lots of users because you're forcing them to have to enter info that's redundant 99.99% of the time, and data consistency - and you do that by designing appropriate user flows and user interfaces, which include taking in account that people will always make mistakes (so you design your system to reduce the chances of human error AND give them a process for later correcting the info info they entered).
Granted, proper design of multi-tiered systems (which include a UX/UI) to balance user needs and the almost laughably bad level of data "integrity", completness and consistency in the minds and communication of human users, with system needs, isn't exactly a common skill amongst software developers: I've seen plenty of junior devs and even mid-level devs expressing the very same frustrations as you about lots of things (not just dates and times) and blaming the users - blaming lusers is almost a stereotipical thing for programmers at a certain level of seniority - and then the whole thing boils down to crap systems design (often UI, but often also things like not have the appropriate steps in user flows to make sure unusual cases - such as users entering times in a timezone other than their local one - are spotted and validated/adjusted) and/or their own selfisheness that life should be harder for the many in order for them - the few - having an easier life.
Ultimatelly, the (IMHO) error of your point of view is that you seem to be forgetting that we programmers do our work for our users, not for ourselves - it's up to us to design our software to be used by humans within the environment they live in, not for everybody else to change their lives to make our job easier. This too is a foundational element of software design.
It's up to programmers to adapt to the conventions of most people in the World, not the other way around.
By "interface" I meant the data interface between systems. Not a User Interface.
Additionally, it's been my experience that I rarely get to design the full stack - we inevitably have to handled data exchange and legacy systems. Those legacy systems are a type of "user" in this instance that we have to program for. We can take a 13:30 string, and store it in UTC, but without location or time zone being provided through that (which the message queue that we pull from doesn't have), it doesn't do us anything.
The solution for these type of problems usually involve find another source of data and mapping the time that way. This inevitably ends up being far more work for us because of the security, traceability, auditing, etc.
In my own experience, ideally you try to avoid using such interfaces. If however you're forced to handle such things (which is far too common) the design which is cheapest and safest is to convert to UTC using a suitable default timezone at the interface level and store the result in your core system time field AND also store the local time but not in a field that you actually use for queries and computations in the core. If (more likely, when) some of those times converted with a "suitable" default turn out to have been wrong in some way - which is not necessarilly something due to the timezone conversion - you can manually fix just those (ideally with bulk data update).
Mind you, a lot of this shit needs to be solved at the systems design and requirements specifications level - either it's accepted that the system will have a fraction of the time data wrong (and it will always do anyway, even without timezones: users enter wrong dates, OCR data reading can't correct for users filling-in the wrong time in a time field on a document, timestamps generated by machines whose internal clocks are not regularly synched with NTP serves can be off my many minutes and so forth), or the whole thing is designed as I described above so that all data is treated as compatible and when it inneviably turns out some times in some fields were wrong or incorrectly translated, you can fixe it in an non-automated way.
As much as the dream is to have the computer do everything itself in code and the data be perfect, that's incompatible with the real world, and that's for way more things than just time values.
The point is, again, that programmers have to deal with the world as is (and dates are hardly the only "quirk" around), not the world as they would like it to be, and that needs to be dealt with already at the level of system design by the (supposedly) senior designers and technical architects rather than having programmers running around fixing the innevitable problems in a system whose design does not take in account the quirks of how certain kinds of data are produced and consumed: proper systems design is about minimising the direct and indirect consequences of data errors, inconsistencies and datatype-specific quirks, not trying to fulfill expectations that all data in one's system is perfect.
I've heard a few complaints today from people irl about having to change their clocks. Not about the time change itself, but having to change the time on clocks. It took me two minutes lol.
Mid-day should be the middle of the day. Mid-night should be the middle of the night.
If you like more light in the ~~evening~~ morning go to bed late and wake up late. If you like light in the ~~morning~~ evening, go to bed early and wake up early.

I would have never known if it wasn't because a coworker told me or because of articles like these. My cat wakes me up at 7- 7:30 and he did that this morning too, so I was very surprised that I slept only 7 hours instead of 8 (before I knew). But the funnits part is that my cat followed DST haha

Over the same time, Indiana University also removed a profile for his wife, Nianli Ma, who was listed as a Lead Systems Analyst and Programmer at the university's Library Technologies division.
According to the Herald-Times in Bloomington, a small fleet of unmarked cars driven by government agents descended on the Bloomington home of Wang and Ma on Friday. They spent most of the day going in and out of the house and occasionally transferred boxes from their vehicles. TV station WTHR, meanwhile, reported that a second home owned by Wang and Ma and located in Carmel, Indiana, was also searched. The station said that both a resident and an attorney for the resident were on scene during at least part of the search.
Attempts to locate Wang and Ma have so far been unsuccessful. An Indiana University spokesman didn't answer emailed questions asking if the couple was still employed by the university and why their profile pages, email addresses and phone numbers had been removed. The spokesman provided the contact information for a spokeswoman at the FBI's field office in Indianapolis. In an email, the spokeswoman wrote: "The FBI conducted court authorized law enforcement activity at homes in Bloomington and Carmel Friday. We have no further comment at this time."
Searches of federal court dockets turned up no documents related to Wang, Ma, or any searches of their residences. The FBI spokeswoman didn't answer questions seeking which US district court issued the warrant and when, and whether either Wang or Ma is being detained by authorities. Justice Department representatives didn't return an email seeking the same information. An email sent to a personal email address belonging to Wang went unanswered at the time this post went live. Their resident status (e.g. US citizens or green card holders) is currently unknown.
Fellow researchers took to social media over the weekend to register their concern over the series of events.
"None of this is in any way normal," Matthew Green, a professor specializing in cryptography at Johns Hopkins University, wrote on Mastodon. He continued: "Has anyone been in contact? I hear he’s been missing for two weeks and his students can’t reach him. How does this not get noticed for two weeks???"
In the same thread, Matt Blaze, a McDevitt Professor of Computer Science and Law at Georgetown University said: "It's hard to imagine what reason there could be for the university to scrub its website as if he never worked there. And while there's a process for removing tenured faculty, it takes more than an afternoon to do it."
Local news outlets reported the agents spent several hours moving boxes in an out of the residences. WTHR provided the following details about the raid on the Carmel home:
Neighbors say the agents announced "FBI, come out!" over a megaphone.
A woman came out of the house holding a phone. A video from a neighbor shows an agent taking that phone from her. She was then questioned in the driveway before agents began searching the home, collecting evidence and taking photos.
A car was pulled out of the garage slightly to allow investigators to access the attic.
The woman left the house before 13News arrived. She returned just after noon accompanied by a lawyer. The group of ten or so investigators left a few minutes later.
The FBI would not say what they were looking for or who is under investigation. A bureau spokesperson issued a statement: “I can confirm we conducted court-authorized activity at the address in Carmel today. We have no further comment at this time.”
Investigators were at the house for about four hours before leaving with several boxes of evidence. 13News rang the doorbell when the agents were gone. A lawyer representing the family who answered the door told us they're not sure yet what the investigation is about.

Added a new Spear skill: Cull the Weak. A fast dash with Culling Strike that grants a Frenzy Charge when it kills enemies.
Cull the Weak is offered at uncut gem tier 3+. Spearfield has been moved from tier 3+ to tier 5+.
Elemental Sundering now pauses the Freeze, Shock and Ignites on targets when building up to explode, and now consumes them when exploding. Previously the ailment was removed as soon as the buildup began, this change has been made so targets remain frozen until the explosion.
Additional and barraged projectiles for Whirlwind Lance are now distributed closer together, spread out on and behind the targeted location.
Flesh Larva monsters can no longer be imprisoned in Essences.
Fixed a bug where the Ancestral Spirits skill, granted by the Answered Call Warbringer Ascendancy Passive Skill, wasn't triggering when Summoning a Totem.
Fixed a bug where taming a beast in the Trial of the Sekhemas or Trials of Chaos could prevent you from progressing the encounters.
Fixed a bug where Convalescence would shapeshift you out of Demon Form.
Fixed a bug where modifiers to melee splash radius were applying twice.
Fixed a bug where the fight with Connal, the Tormented in the Willow Map would not correctly restart if you failed the first attempt.
Fix a bug where Toxic Growth could not be supported by Overabundance.
This patch contains some balance adjustments to Player Minions, Spear Skills, some Bosses, as well a number of bug fixes.
The Minion changes in this patch are readjustments to changes for their Life and Damage Scaling that were in 0.2.0. The goal of those were to impact very high level minions and some outliers but it affected them on a more broad scale causing them to feel weaker than we intended, especially in the middle of the campaign.
Balance changes:
Minions have approximately 15% more Life through the early Campaign, tapering down to be unchanged by Gem Level 30 (or so).
Gem Level 10 Minions now have 41% More Damage.
Gem Level 15 Minions now have 50% More Damage.
Gem Level 20 Minions now have 60% More Damage.
Gem Level 30 Minions now have 79% More Damage.
The Life threshold Skeletal Arsonists can target other Minions, and the heal amount of Skeletal Clerics has been adjusted proportionately to the Minion Life changes.
Adjusted the Damage, Attack Speed, and Mana Costs for the following Spear Skills:
Spear Throw deals ~8% more Damage at all skill levels.
Lightning Spear Attack Speed is now 60% of base (from 50%) and deals ~5% more Damage at all gem levels.
Glacial Lance Attack Speed is now 50% of base (from 45%).
Storm Lance Attack Speed is now 60% of base (from 55%).
Whirlwind Lance Attack Speed is now 60% of base (from 55%).
All the above skills (except Spear Throw) have had their Mana Costs lowered proportionately to the Attack Speed increases.
Candlemass, the Living Rite's abilities has had their cooldowns slightly increased (This should result in it using attacks that are parryable more often).
Fixed an issue where one of Candlemass, the Living Rite's cleaves were unblockable/unparryable.
Count Geonor's abilities have had their cooldowns slightly increased (This should result in him using attacks that are parryable more often).
Blackjaw the Remnant, Oloton the Remorseless and Stormgore have had their skills rebalanced and visuals improved so their damage area more closely resemble their visuals.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a bug where Banners were not providing their benefits to players when placed.
Fixed a bug where Raise Shield was missing the Melee type, so could not be supported by many Support Gems that required it.
Fixed a bug where some Whirlwinds would disappear instantly when Whirlwind Lance had extra Projectiles.
Fixed a bug where Concoction skills were not visually scaling with changes to Area of Effect.
Fixed a bug where the Profusion Support Gem was not working with the Disengage or Retort Skills.
Fixed a client crash when using the Wind Serpent's Fury Skill.
Fixed 3 client crashes related to Gamepad UI.
Fixed 3 instance crashes.
This patch has been deployed without restarting the servers, so you will need to restart your client to receive the client changes.
In our update post yesterday we said we would be checking to see if there were any outliers in the area clear times during the campaign. Now that we have done the first pass of our assessment, we can talk about some of the changes that we are making to improve things.
Our focus this time is on Act 3 areas since this act has a somewhat overall longer completion time.
The Drowned City
This area had a very large dead end that was intended to contain an entrance to an area that was temporarily cut to ship Early Access. Unfortunately this means that in the live version, this leads up to an inaccessible door with no checkpoint. We are removing that part of the level and the part that leads up to it which will reduce the overall size of the area quite a lot, but more importantly prevent the frustrating situation where you go the wrong way and have to backtrack.
Utzaal
This area has exactly the same problem as the Drowned City and we are doing exactly the same fix, but in addition has a second dead end where the entrance to the Treasure Vault is located in the Present version of this area. We have removed that dead end as well.
The Apex Of Filth
This area is shaped like a large spiral which was originally done because the boss arena had to be in the center to maintain continuity with the Past version. We are breaking that continuity to make the area smaller, which will make the area better overall.
The Azak Bog
This area is a large square that has extremely high variance in how long it takes to find the boss because the location of that boss is highly variable. We have changed this area to be more rectangular with the boss at the other end from where you start which means that you can get to the boss more quickly without needing to explore the entire area as well as making it somewhat smaller.
Infested Barrens
This area primarily trips people up because it requires you to find a waypoint to the Waterways before you can continue on to the Chimeral Wetlands if you want to be able to come back easily after finishing Jiquani's Sanctum. We are modifying the area to have a bottleneck requiring you to go past the entrance to the Waterways near the start meaning that there are less things you need to try to find in this area and cutting down the size slightly.
Jungle Ruins
This area had a problem where it was often hard to identify the exit to the Infested Barrens from far enough away. We have made the entrance more clear and moved the checkpoint further so that you are more likely to see it. This area has also been made slightly smaller.
Chimeral Wetlands
This area has some random variations that put the entrance to the Temple of the Chaos very far away from the entrance to the Machinarium requiring a lot of backtracking. We are moving these two entrances closer together.
Jiquani's Machinarium
This area primarily takes extra time due to searching for Soul Cores. We have added an extra Soul Core to reduce the average amount of time it takes to find them.
Jiquani's Sanctum
This area suffers from the same problem as Machinarium. We have added an extra Soul Core to this area as well to reduce the amount of time you need to search.
General Changes
We have also noticed that a common issue is doing a side area and then coming back to the main area and finding that it has been reset, making you need to clear it a second time. We have a more permanent solution in mind for this issue but as a temporary improvement we have increased the timeout time for areas with side-areas off them. This should reduce how often you run into this issue.
These changes should be deployed within the next few days. Of course, we will continue to monitor things and see if further changes are needed.

UNICEF spokesperson Kazem Abu Khalaf yesterday announced the closure of approximately 21 malnutrition treatment centres in Gaza due to the resumption of Israeli military aggression and the issuance of evacuation orders in operational areas.
He further emphasised that Israel continues to impose a blockade on Gaza, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, nutritional supplements, and other essential materials for the 35th consecutive day.
UNICEF reported on Saturday that more than one million children in the Gaza Strip have been deprived of life-saving assistance for more than a month, warning that “the continued denial of aid entry into Gaza constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and has dire consequences for children.”
The U.S. Justice Department dispatched armed U.S. marshals to deliver a letter warning a fired career pardon attorney about testifying to congressional Democrats, her lawyer said in a letter seen by Reuters on Monday.
“This highly unusual step of directing armed law enforcement officers to the home of a former Department of Justice employee who has engaged in no misconduct, let alone criminal conduct, simply to deliver a letter, is both unprecedented and completely inappropriate,” Michael Bromwich, a lawyer representing fired pardon attorney Liz Oyer, wrote to the Justice Department.
The Marshals were called off on Friday only after Oyer acknowledged receiving the letter, once she located it in a secondary email that she had not been using to communicate with the department's human resources officials, Bromwich wrote.
While U.S. Marshals deputies are sometimes used to serve congressional subpoenas or protect witnesses, dispatching them to deliver a letter from the Justice Department is unusual, one former official said.
A Justice Department spokesman did not comment.
