Trump official declaring ‘anyone who preaches hate for America’ will be deported worries users: ‘They just skip the First Amendment’

Top Trump official Stephen Miller's recent declaration that anyone who "preaches hate for America" will face deportation has ignited alarm online, with critics warning the statement disregards First Amendment protections.

Social media users and legal analysts raised immediate concerns, pointing out that expressing dissent or criticism of the government is protected under the First Amendment. Some worried the administration was veering into authoritarian territory.

The backlash has reignited broader debates over the limits of free speech, especially as civil liberties fall under scrutiny. While immigration enforcement remains a core theme of President Donald Trump's platform, critics are increasingly questioning whether rhetoric like Miller's is a precursor to more aggressive suppression of dissent.

Oh, I'm sorry, bigoted dipshit. Forgot you need to specify exactly what level of stupidity someone's on or you'll get pendanted to death

Trump is not a narcissist.

I'm no expert, but I believe he falls under the "megalomaniac" category. Heavy emphasis on the "maniac".

Question about contrast:

Why is the contrast in this picture so brutal? Is it only because of the lighting?

I took the picture with my Canon A1 through a Canon FD 1:4 70-210mm lens on CinestillXX with ISO 400.
I used a pretty small aperture because I had the setting sun on 10 o’clock.

Programmiamo in Python

Buona visione!

China admits to being behind Volt Typhoon cyber activity targeting US

Volt Typhoon has been responsible for intrusions into vital critical infrastructure both in the continental United States and its possessions through the Pacific.

The group has made transport hubs and water utilities a particular target, with the hackers so far not causing any disruption but rather prepositioning themselves ahead of any hostile action.

The admission of Chinese responsibility came during a secret meeting between outgoing Biden administration officials and Chinese representatives on the sidelines of a summit in Geneva in December 2024. According to two anonymous observers, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported late last week that the Chinese attendants referred indirectly to the activity as being a warning for the US to stay away from any attempts to support or defend Taiwan.

According to the WSJ, the comments were “indirect and somewhat ambiguous”; however, US officials present felt the meaning was plain.

Speaking to Cyber Daily’s sister brand, Defence Connect, earlier this year, Adam Meyers, SVP of counter-adversary operations at CrowdStrike, said that Volt Typhoon’s activity was clearly aimed at disrupting any US action in the region.

cross-posted from: lemmy.world/post/28212040

Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has said he will not make "big concessions" to Donald Trump in order to get a trade deal wrapped up ahead of talks due to start on April 17 in Washington, but also said on Monday that he would not be imposing retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports.

Ishiba told parliament that Japan needs to understand Trump's views on tariffs and trade "in terms of the logic and the emotional elements" behind them, Reuters reported.
