Tools that professionals use need to be available and they need to work like they do on macOS and Windows, it’s pretty much that simple. I think Darktable is fine for me tinkering around with my amateur photos. If I were a professional using it daily I’d probably hate it.
As much as we wish it wasn’t true, most people don’t really give a shit about their OS. It’s the logo that appears when they boot up their computers to work. What they do care about is having their tools available to them, if they can’t use the Adobe Suite, Pro Tools etc (and no, WINE is not a practical solution for most of these people) then Linux of any flavour is functionally useless to them. It’s for this reason that smug people saying “just switch to linux lol” as if it’s an actual solution whenever a Windows user complains about some rabidly anti-consumer bullshit that Microsoft is forcing onto them annoys the hell out of me.
It’s changing somewhat now, but it’s why you’ll find that a lot of people in the creative industries traditionally stick with macOS, because for a long time the options for those professionals were just better on that platform and people tend to stick with what they know.
On the other side of that coin, you have software vendors looking at the single-digit market share that Linux on the desktop “enjoys” and coming to the fairly reasonable conclusion that building packages, fixing bugs and providing support for myriad different distros just isn’t worth the headaches it will inevitably cause for them.
I'm not really sure what assumptions you can reasonably make about me or my generation given that you have no idea who I am or how old I am, but I've been working with FOSS in my personal life for about 20 years give or take, a bit less than that in my professional life. I actually used to work in the music industry professionally before changing careers to tech with a FOSS slant during the pandemic, so I've seen both sides of this coin.
I'm genuinely not trying to shit on FOSS tools or say that they're not suitable for creative professionals (my gripes with Darktable are very much personal to me), I love FOSS and the philosophy strongly aligns with my personal values but it's not just about how "good" these tools are on an objective level. This is a cultural problem as much as it is an engineering problem, as you seem to have correctly identified.
You have to understand how ubiquitous something like Pro Tools suite is in the music industry and for how long that has been the case - the Pro Tools session format truly is a global industry standard by anyone's measure. You can walk into just about any professional recording studio on the planet with your session files and the recording engineer will know exactly what to do with them, and so will mastering engineers and record producers. If you go to school for audio engineering, they're teaching you Pro Tools. There are entire companies that produce outboard gear and control surfaces just for use with Pro Tools. You get the idea. The reason for that ubiquity is that Pro Tools, like many other creative software solutions, captured the market in the 90s when every other solution was an utter joke in comparison and they built on it from there. Sure, there's fantastic alternatives now, but when you know Pro Tools like the back of your hand and so do all of your colleagues and collaborators, when all of your hardware and software works with it seamlessly... how likely are you to change?
I'm not suggesting that this isn't a problem by the way - vendor lock-in is a serious bugbear of mine - but it's a very real barrier to getting creative professionals to switch to FOSS alternatives, and in turn to getting software vendors to take FOSS platforms seriously. It's a reality that cannot be hand-waved away by saying that x or y tool works great and that people just need to learn it and switch so that they can use Linux. If you can't run Pro Tools on Linux, that's a whole industry that won't use it. It's that simple.

È una cosa così stupida, ma allo stesso tempo così indescrivibile, che faccio davvero fatica a spiegarla: non riesco letteralmente ad alzarmi dal lettino, tutto qui. Suona la sveglia messa per un orario accettabile, e io o la posticipo o (se mi distraggo) la spengo, e rimango lì nel letto a girlrottare, fino a quando succede che o mi riaddormento, o rimango lì in costante riciclica dormiveglia, a non fare nulla se non involontariamente pensare a cose disordinate, mentre abbraccio il mio cuscino per un minimo di conforto, fino a quando non si è fatto davvero troppo tardi e allora riesco ad alzarmi per pietà, o qualcosa del genere. 😭
Se fosse almeno logicamente comprensibile, potrei allora forse accettare la situazione, rassegnarmi al fatto che l’universo ha deciso che la mia realtà deve essere questa… ma ovviamente no: oltre al danno, per me, c’è sempre la costante della beffa. Non cambia nulla di sostanziale se metto la sveglia in modo da dormire 7, 8, 9 ore, o una via di mezzo tra queste, quindi non si tratta né di dormire troppo né di dormire troppo poco. Sto anche prendendo molto di meno l’antistaminico, che negli ultimi 2 giorni ho volutamente saltato (così come altri 2 prima), ma pure questo pare non influisce minimamente. 🐸
L’unica differenza particolare che ho notato è che, se dormo una quantità di ore sull’estremo minore, anziché su quello maggiore, in genere tendo a rimanere meno nel letto a marcire: un’oretta anziché 2. Controintuitivo che dormire di più mi faccia voler rimanere di più in coma, ma tant’è tutta la situazione. E, inoltre, la mia impressione assurda è che più dormo, più faccio fatica a carburare e rimanere viva durante la giornata; se dormo 5 ore, la mattina è una tortura alzarmi, ma intanto superato quel momento è fatta… se dormo 8 o 9 ore, mi passa quel poco che mi rimane della mattina per poi arrivare al pomeriggio che sono ancora stanca. (Ancora adesso mi calano le palpebre.) 😾

The Trump administration admitted his deportation was an “administrative error” but refused his return. The Supreme Court ruled against the administration 9-0.
In response, the White House launched a smear campaign against Van Hollen, framing Garcia as a gang member despite no charges or convictions.
A court has demanded the Trump admin return this man, and their defense has been that they don't have the power to do it. Now they publicly criticize a Senator for trying to get the man returned.
They really are stupid when it comes to undermining their own case, aren't they?
SCOTUS didn't order his return. The ruling was that this is a foreign policy matter at this point and the executive branch has foreign policy power, not the court. SCOTUS rule that the Trump administration has to facilitate his return. Trump is willing to facilitate his return, but El Salvador said no, and that is the end of discussion for this matter.
Anyway, it would be ridiculously weird for El Salvador to send their own citizen to the US who initiated came to the US illegally.
The whole reason you put concentration camps in a foreign nation is to remove them from SCOTUS jurisdiction. Then you get to sit back and say, "We can't compel a sovereign state," while the sovereign state gets to sit back and say, "We'd gladly return these people, if only POTUS would ask." It was an administrative error. There is a valid deportation order for that man. There is also a withholding order which only applies to El Salvador. The only mistake in the deportation was the destination.

There is a valid and effective deportation order. For deportation purpose, there was no need to prove him guilty at the criminal court. If he was deported to another country, this would be completely in compliance.

Terahertz (THz) technology operates in the electromagnetic spectrum between microwaves and infrared light, typically ranging from 0.1 to 10 THz. Often referred to as the "terahertz gap," this part of the spectrum was historically difficult to access due to limitations in generating and detecting THz waves. However, recent advancements have enabled scientists and engineers to harness its unique properties for a wide range of applications.
The entire staff of the Defense Digital Service (DDS), the Pentagon’s decade-old technology development office, is leaving by the start of May, with nearly all individuals resigning, a current member of the office confirmed to The Hill on Tuesday.
The mass exodus, first reported by Politico, means the service will effectively shutter in less than a month.
