Despair in Gaza as Israeli aid blockade creates crisis ‘unmatched in severity’

MAGA goes into full meltdown mode over SCOTUS ruling on deportations
Summary
The MAGA cinematic universe has gone into full meltdown after the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s latest deportation push.
The ruling halted deportations that rely on the Alien Enemies Act—in a stunning 7-2 decision. “The Supreme Court would rather actively participate in America’s ruination,” wrote DHS liaison Paul Ingrassia.
“We live in a society where foreign alien terrorists have unlimited free legal representation,” Stephen Miller posted.
Tom Fitton suggested Trump suspend habeas corpus to “reverse the Biden invasion.” “Who will compensate the American people for the lasting damage?” Rep. Mary Miller asked.

I believe I saw someone say on Tumblr that if you enjoy having rights then you should advocate the strongest for criminals enjoying rights as well, because otherwise, the Government can always just take your rights away by labelling you a criminal.

Yes, Thats what I've been saying.
You only have as many rights as an accused criminal does.
and if we can remove due process from someone who is accused of being a criminal, and sent them to a central american torture prison with no judge, jury, hearing, or anything... Then anyone can be sent to a central american torture prison, because all it will take is a baseless accusation to strip you of all your supposedly inalienable rights.
What a cruel and stupid little man.

We all agree that the system is corrupt and ineffective. Republicans subvert that truth in order to undermine the law and cut government programs. In other words, while Dems are complaining about overreach of presidential power, Reps take that same energy towards SCOTUS.
I myself am on the far left so this is not an endorsement, but rather an observation on their clever tactics.
I don't think the judicial system has been very judicious since it's become so politicized. With so many right leaning justices and straight up corruption in the courts I don't respect their opinions anymore.
Perhaps it would be different for someone right leaning, but it's my understanding that average people on the right distrust most government by default. The Republican mind and the libertarian mind are often similar.
All that to say I don't think this is a valid trigger for introspection, and in fact I don't think there is a single thing besides brown jesus christ himself coming down and rapturing their opposition that would cause even a second of pause.
“We live in a society where foreign alien terrorists have unlimited free legal representation,” Stephen Miller posted.
From the US Constitution:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Trump, Miller, and the rest of he administration loathe the Constitution and the very foundations of the American ideal.
They seek to destroy all of it and replace it with a far right oligarchical dictatorship. They want an unchecked executive where the primary qualification of its officers is loyalty to the leader. Where due process is merely a suggestion and doesn't apply to whomever they decide. Where money spent on research, food safety, education, government oversight, and public welfare is corruption and fraud, but money spent on private enterprise that enriches the executive officers is not. And, unfortunately, they've seen more success in that than I would have thought possible, particularly in such a brief time.
So when are republicans changing the plaque on the Statue of Liberty to say
“Get out you tired, you poor,You huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to El Salvador,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

As an American citizen, I've honestly never understood exactly why the piece of shit wasn't given the only punishment (that I know of, anyway) befitting a traitor a long way back... I mean, my personal feelings on the matter are that if you - in any capacity, really, though particularly that of someone in a leadership position- attempt to incite, encourage, or otherwise amplify an insurrectionist mob, then that makes YOU an INSURRECTIONIST. Full stop.
Which also makes you guilty of treason. (Full stop, again.)
So... Why, again, was this not dealt with as it should've been? Whaf a fucking joke
you started a great question, but then you got distracted.
i think that the BIG part that's missing from the american eqution is actual fucking americans. y'all have been sat in your couches for so long that you don't think you can actually stand for anything any more.

Please lecture us about American history some more.
Letting rich white people get away with treason is quite literally a tradition here.
Even then, Trump isn't the root problem.
I agree with everything you've said (for whatever that's worth, being from outside the US) - but the primary issue is the 30%+ of folk who are voting for this arsehole, along with the 30%+ of folk who didn't care enough to vote against it.
Following that logic, it doesn't matter whether it's Trump, Hitler, Musk, Orban, Putin or whatever going for the post - it doesn't even matter whether they're constitutionally permitted to stand for office, if there's an overwhelming number of folk who don't give a fuck and vote that way anyway, then there's your bigger problem.

Same, this series made me a huge fan of Giamatti, and I try to watch everything he's in now. He's so good.
Yeah it feels like that's getting glossed over but that's a really fucking big deal.
For those unaware, habeas corpus (from Medieval Latin, lit. 'you should have the body', basically 'bring us this guy') is a legal procedure that exists in basically every legitimate government anywhere, not just American, which effectively states that if you've been wrongly imprisoned then your lawyer can call to have you moved from prison to a courtroom to determine whether your detainment is lawful. Basically saying you can't just be thrown in a dungeon to be forgotten about because someone can force the court to retrieve you and give you a court date. I'm not a legal expert so read it for yourself to get a good understanding.
At any rate, someone recommending suspending habeas corpus is never up to any good, it is always 100% bad without exception, always. Even saying those three words together should be instant political suicide and should be grounds for disbarment. Successfully suspending habeas corpus with your rubber stamp and signature should be subject to execution. Any judge who accepts that it is suspended is unfit for their position.

Being able to remember is so surreal these days. I remember when Republicans attacked my country and tried to kill elected leaders. I remember when the domestic terrorists were taken in like sons and daughters. I remember CPAC declaring "We are all domestic terrorists."
And now they're saying terrorists don't deserve due process.
Some of these guys are very, very dangerous and will push us towards civil war before they give up power.
Remember that violence is what they want so they have an excuse to crack down and use martial law, etc.
The Courts must uphold the rule of law despite these threats. This is (supposed to be) America. We are not free unless everyone has due process.

Pope sends deputy to lecture Vance on compassion at Vatican
Summary
Pope Francis skipped the Vatican’s official meeting with J.D. Vance Saturday, instead having his No. 2 give the vice president a lecture on compassion, according to a Vatican statement.
The statement said there was “an exchange of opinions on the international situation… with particular attention to migrants, refugees, and prisoners.”
Pope Francis has repeatedly rebuked the president’s mass deportation effort, calling it a “disgrace” and a “grave sin.”
The Pope corrected a Catholic concept Vance had invoked to defend the administration’s deportations, ordo amoris (order of love). In a February letter, Francis pointedly explained, “Christian love is not a concentric expansion of interests that little by little extend to other persons and groups.”

Trump posted a photo of Abrego Garcia’s hand with an MS-13 knuckle tattoo. Internet sleuths say it’s photoshopped
Summary
Trump reportedly held up a digitally altered image of the hand of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was deported by the Trump administration, in an attempt to prove Garcia is a gang member.
Trump can be seen holding a printed-out photo... demonstrating that "MS-13" is tattooed across his knuckles.
"This is the hand of the man that the Democrats feel should be brought back," Trump posted. However, many have pointed out that the image appears photoshopped.
"MS-13 looks like it was typed on the photo." "Needing to have a photo doctored... is definitely something a psychopath would do."

How so? Marijuana, Smile are pretty clear, the cross you can see in place of 1 on other MS13 tattoos (using image search of MS13 tattoos).
The only one I'm not sure of is the skull, but the available image is a bit blurry. Maybe the 2 eye holes plus the nose hole?
1 isn't really a cross, but I guess if you really stretch it?
But the skull also has a mouth. That's 4.

I don't think all of the gang members being deported from the US are wearing the tattoos so boldly. They probably had to be a bit more subtle than that in the US than in Venezuela or El Salvador (before last year).
Look at these 5 guys from 2023 foxnews.com/us/five-suspected-…
Or these three from 2018: foxnews.com/us/3-ms-13-gang-me…
Or all of these ones from 2021: breitbart.com/politics/2021/08…
It's going to be hard to find subtle versions of the tattoos with image search since they all give the same results of blatant face tattoos.
Illegal Alien MS-13 Gang Members Indicted for Murders, Kidnappings
Illegal aliens are among a group of nine MS-13 Gang members who were indicted for racketeering and violent criminal conspiracy including murder, kidnapping, assault, and robbery in Tennessee.John Binder (Breitbart)
Yeah, they think that the evidence is the annotations and ignore them as being annotations as a bad faith argument.
Do the symbols on his knuckles means "MS13"? That is up for debate without supporting evidence from those who have relevant knowledge and authority on the subject, which DHS has not validated as of yet but the arresting officers in a 2019 incident when he was arrested with two others that were also "MS13 affiliated" by the local PD; if that was out of authority or guilt by proximity is up for debate.
Is it plausible that a gang member has coded tattoos? Absolutely because gangs do use symbols to code like white power people use 1488 and similar. To be fair members of MS13 and similar tend to be more blatant with their tattoos, but it may offer a tactical advantage to be more obtuse in tattoos depending on the individual's role in the organization. So him not having "MS13" tattooed on his face is not necessary absolute proof that he is unaffiliated.
He was alleged to be affiliated
to MS13 by an informant, who is advantaged by lying financially and legally. $100 bucks can make a guy busted for drug trafficking say anything to avoid the consequences of his actions.
His wife censors his tattoos in her calls for his return, which implies she knows the tattoos are a optics problem and she has also avoided admitting or denying any past gang affiliation. Not damning, but draw enough points and you can draw a line.
Could he have been a victim of circumstances and has a checkered past due to where he grew up and has been trying to reform himself and be a decent, honest, and lawful person? Absolutely, but his traffick stop in 2022 sure is questionable.
At the end of the day he was here illegally and two judges have decided he was at one time an MS13 member based on the information available to them, which is greater than we are privileged to.
You can disagree with deporting him because a prior administration decided he should not be immediately be deported, but administrations change and so can the decisions of a prior administration with a new administration.
How he is treated in his home country is a concern, but that is a concern of his family and the people of El Salvador who advocate on behalf of the imprisoned, not the American government because he is not a naturalized citizen.
You can disagree with deporting him because a prior administration decided he should not be immediately be deported, but administrations change and so can the decisions of a prior administration with a new administration.
NOEM v. ABREGO GARCIA is pretty clear.
At the end of the day he was here illegally
Actually, at the time he was kidnapped he was a legal resident and the administration had court orders specifically not to send him to El Salvador. Anything anyone tries to say about his tattoos, one way or another, is completely irrelevant nonsense and attempting to defend the administration's actions against him is a moral evil.
It's so obvious that the letters and numbers are there to show what the tattooed symbols represent. I feel like I'm in bizarro world that people don't understand that and think they've found some smoking gun.
It doesn't change the need for due process, but come on people.
Trump's own words indicated that he thought the MS13 tattoos were on the knuckles, which is where the Arial font characters are. So either Trump doesn't know what a knuckle is, or he was speaking imprecisely, or he's a fucking moron, or all of the above.
In any case, as someone pointed out above, it's unlikely MS13 would be working with acronyms in English for their tattoos, especially acronyms in English that only 50% work because Marijuana Smiley Cross Skull says MSCS, not MS13.
You don't think Marijuana is an English word, do you?
Smile is sonrisa in Spanish, also...
The skull is still a puzzler though.
It starts off plausible:
M=Marijuana
S=Smiley
But then it gets stupid:
1=Cross?
3=Skull???
The explanation I read is that skull is cranéo in spanish - "cranium" - which would give us C = 3rd letter of the alphabet. The jury is still out on the cross, but perhaps "god is number one" or something. Never mind that actual MS-13 members have no qualms about tattooing the actual letters all over their bodies instead of elaborate ciphers...
None of this matters though, focus should be kept on the right to due process. They can smear him all they want, it doesn't change the facts.
Here’s a closeup of the image
A Nigerian prince puts more effort into fooling people.
That was my first reaction, but apparently the letters were placed there to explain the tattoos "meaning".
Supposedly:
Marijuana stands for M
Smiley face stands for S
Cross stands for 1 for some reason
Skull stands for 3 for some reason
They forgot that:
- wouldn't the text be in Spanish and not English?
- MS 13 hand members are proud of being in it, they put giant letters on their chests, backs, face, if he wanted to hide it, why even bother having a tattoos? Wouldn't other gang members get upset that he is hiding it?
I also couldn't find pictures of anyone else from MS13 who was using such cryptic tattoos.
Also with the interpretation is that you can literally assign any meaning to it for example:
- Pot
- Ecstatic
- "t"
- Afterlife
This shows that Abrego Garcia is actually an animal lover and supports PETA.
But this is beside the point. The problem is he had no due process, and wasn't deported but human trafficked to a prison in 3rd world country.
If they have undeniable proof give it to the court and then either deport him or put him in US jail if he committed a crime.
Mearuu likes this.
Spanish would work for the first two, as silly as it is, since marijuana is already a spanish word and sonrisa is smile. You could almost get away with 1 for the cross, though it would be c by the logic of the first two.
The skull, though, is utter nonsense.
Wait, the letters are clearly digitally added on top of the photo, but aren't they just used to label the tattoos on each finger?
Not that would change anything...
If they wanted to indicate a translation for the symbols, they could have done so off of the part of the image consisting of the hand. Trump said verbatim “he’s got MS-13 tattooed onto his knuckles”. Not symbols for MS-13, the phrase itself. Additionally, the real tattoos are clearly not on the knuckles, but the photoshopped letters are. Trump believes the photoshopped letters are actual tattoos and/or wants to convince people of it.
[EDIT: Trump 100% means to convince us that the photoshopped letters are actual tattoos. We are as cooked as the old coot’s brain.]
He should have used a sharpie. It would be more convincing than the pixelated font that doesn't align wit the hand at all.
I have to think someone overlaid text on the photo to persuade people that the pictures on the fingers represented MS13, but Trump got the wrong end of the stick, made an idiot of himself in front of the media, and no one dared tell him he was a fucking moron.
I read that in Gloria Estefan's voice;
Turn the E around, Microsoft confessin'
There are five possibilities:
- Trump was given this as proof that the guy is really a gang member, didn't ask if it was fake, presented it without vetting it
- Trump ordered someone to find proof that he's in a gang and someone gave it to him as proof
- Trump ordered someone to create proof that he's in a gang
- Trump was given this as proof, he asked if it was fake, and was told the truth, and presented it anyway
- Trump was given this as proof, asked if it was fake, was lied to, and presented it
All of these have problems.
OH, COME ON! That isn't even a plausible fake. Couldn't they find a third-grader to do a better job?
This is the HitlerPig 2.0 version of the hurricane weather map. I'm surprised he didn't just scribble on the photo with a Sharpie.

I think this whole Garcia deportation is part of that. It wasn't supposed to in the beginning, but they're cooking with what they have.
Instead of talking about how fucking insane it is to deporting people to a death camp without any due process. We're now talking about how insane it is to deport someone who wasn't "supposed" to be deported to a death camp, and then refuse to do the bare minimum to get him back.
They've made sure we ignore the hundreds of people getting removed with no sign of evidence against their crimes.
This is exactly it. They flood the stage with all sorts of distractions, and then run with whatever issue gets traction. While everyone is focused on this one guy, dozens of others with the same non-criminal background are forgotten about, because they have nobody to support them, or their family didn't spot an identifying tattoo in a propaganda photo.
Eventually they'll let this guy go, and everyone will celebrate, and the Nazis will act insulted, while secretly cebrating that dozens of equally innocent people will still endure life sentences in a torture prison for the crime of being born brown.
Anyone's hand, presented by the man whose first column in the "customs tariff table" was a ridiculous lie made up of cooked numbers (trade deficit instead of tariff rate).
There's no reason to put a grain of trust in him.
Looking at the photo on top of this thread, which shows his hand, it seems like he has the tatoos, but not the letters MS 13.
So that picture was most likely of his hands, and then someone added the MS13 to it.
It's his hand. You can find other angles of it in the same article. It seems to me that the ms-13 edited onto his digits is meant to be a translation of the symbology of his tattoos:
Marijuana leaf = M
Smiley face = S
Cross = 1
Skull = 3
Is that an accurate representation of what his tattoos mean? I have no idea, I'm not an expert on gang symbology. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. The presence of a gang tattoo is something that could be submitted as evidence in court - which is a right the accused was never afforded.
What I am sure of, is that trump intentionally presented this information in such a vague manner so as to muddy the waters so he can come back later and claim his claims were misrepresented by the "lying, dishonest media" - which is itself dishonest.
It's an inkblot test. His detractors will take the claim at face value, and his supporters will dig in and claim we're stupid for not immediately taking his claims as gospel. He doesn't care if his claims hold up in court. He only cares about the court of public opinion, and right now, he's defining that conversation.
Why does "Cross = 1, Skull = 3"? I did my best to google it but every result is comments from posts made within the last day.
What I did find was this quote in yahoo.com/news/trump-posts-ima… :
"The four symbols – “Marijuana,” “Smiley,” “Cross” and “Skull” – have not been found in any law enforcement guidelines or manuals to stand in for MS-13 gang identification."
Is that an accurate representation of what his tattoos mean? I have no idea, I’m not an expert on gang symbology.
I'm not an expert either, but I'm from another country. Does the gang speak English? If it's an Ecuadorian gang, why would they use English abbreviations in their symbol language? It seems natural for them to use Spanish. 😀
Marijuana is Marihuana and Smiley is not adapted, so it's still Smiley.
The cross and the skull being 1 and 3 I have no idea what means.
Even if that's real, which doesn't look like it, what's keeping them from forcing Mr. Garcia onto a chair, hold him down, while they tattoo it?
This administration and their dictator allies have shown to have no constraints, no guardrails, time and time again. Consistently. You can always blindly trust them to bs and lie their way through anything.
You gonna tell me people who tried to stage Mr. Garcia sipping some Margaritas by a hotel pool wouldn't stoop so low as to place fake tattoos on him? Yeah, that's the thing with dishonesty - even if you tell the truth once it's still gonna be called into question. The boy who cried wolf, and all that.
People are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
That was in the last century or so.
Bruh. So they went from M to S to 1 to 3? Instead of A to B to C … to 1 to 2 to 3?
No. Don’t try to muddy the waters and spread more supposition as fact. Trump has already been proven to alter images to fit his own internal incorrect narrative, just look at that hurricane path incident from his last term. All evidence and common sense points to someone digitally editing this picture in order to fabricate support for this man’s illegal deportation.
I think the point is that we all know they put in the MS13 digitally
The argument isnt against that
We all know it
The argument is that the republicans arent arguing he literally has MS13 tattooed
But that even they know that was added
And thats its just added to help people figure out why the tattoos would represent MS13
Its not that Republicans are saying the edited in part is part of the tattoo
Just that the tattoos that are there represent MS13
Marijuana= M
smiley = S
Cross= 1
Skull = 3
Thats what the printed texts above each knuckle represents. These dumb people claiming it has poor photoshop... Has something loose in their head
I'd like some independent decoding of these symbols. He could be celebrating his Master of Science in Computer Science.
(Also, the whole Trump argument is irrelevant because they already admitted he was "deported" in error)
And itd amazing to me how this is another of this shit is dumb, we dont need to make stuff up to complain about it being dumb
Like the excuses for the symbols dont make sense. We can just call that out. We dont need to lie.
Look. I wish he could be removed by impeachment. But we need to accept that he's an outlaw.
He is a clear proponent of extrajudicial capital punishment.
Only an overdose of his own medicine will take him down.
Sure. We are in agreement. That's exactly why it's important to adhere to our constitution. Due process is an instruction for how to operate our government when looking to use its violent capabilities upon individuals. "No person shall" has nothing to do with who the individual is, only how our government must go about depriving them of "life, liberty, or property", if it sees fit.
Until we change our constitution, due process for all.
What insults me more than anything is that he thinks I am so stupid that I would accept that obviously doctored photo as real. I felt the same way when he pitched his hurricane weather map with his Sharpie edit.
Hey, HitlerPig, we aren't all as stupid as you, and the people around you.
Who do I trust?
A lying asswipe who wouldn't know the truth if it slapped him in his orange face?
A man I don't know that has been sent to a foreign nation's prison for no reason?
Easy choice.
the individual is not the issue. it's the process. i'm not going to go to bat for some rando who might very well be involved in nefarious shit, but i will damn sure defend the idea that every person is allowed a chance to defend themself. this is the issue. people need to stop treating this dude like a saint. it could very well backfire.
in fact, leftists and liberals in general need to stop automatically assuming the opposite of everything a conservative claims is true. that's a fucking trap and it's illogical.

Goodbye chat
Relax, it's not as bad as it sounds. Yes, of course, you will be sick more often, and you might die sooner, but you can take really easy steps to prevent at least some diseases. Cook everything you prepare thoroughly, no rare steak, no juicy whatever. Avoid prepared/processed foods. Don't drink from the tap, don't use ice cubes.
If you have any questions, just ask any other third world nation.
Some FDA employees have been working on a possible shift of the agency's routine food efforts to states for years, one current and one former official said, which could free up resources to focus on higher priority and foreign inspections. The FDA already outsources some routine food inspections through contracts with 43 states and Puerto Rico.
Interesting, so this isn’t just a Trump thing? And the plan hasn’t to end testing food, rather to shift who is testing it.

Wait. Tokyo Disneyland exists. Never mind.
I was there last year. It’s worse than ever. Expensive as fuck and designed to wear you down and open your wallets more. There was one really good ride and managed to see that. Had to pay extra on top of admission to ride it though. Per person.
The other big ticket item crapped out halfway through and the group of us in there ended up getting things to come back and try again later (after waiting in line for 30 mins) since it broke.
Honestly, it’s not the same as when I was a kid. The magic is gone.
As California Gov. Gavin Newsom rolled out a lawsuit Wednesday challenging Trump’s sweeping tariffs, he had little to say about the Abrego Garcia case when asked about it.“This is the distraction of the day. The art of distraction,” Newsom, a potential 2028 presidential contender, said of Trump invoking MS-13 to justify his actions. “And here, we zig and zag. This is the debate they want. This is their 80-20 issue, as they’ve described it.”
While noting that the government needs to abide by court orders and the rule of law, Newsom added, “It’s exactly the debate they want, because they don’t want this debate on the tariffs; they don’t want to be accountable to markets today.”

Do you really want our population doubled that quickly? Keep in mind 50% of our country would now basically be Americans.
No thanks.
Yeah people keep saying California should be a province of Canada which is ridiculous. Why not suggest something that's plausible?
California should be it's own country. It's got a higher population than Canada and a much larger economy. They'd no longer need to continue subsidizing states that are happy when the guy they put into power denies them emergency aid in a disaster. They could have their own emergency relief fund they'd administer themselves, and they could set their own immigration policy.
Hell I'd be open to an EU style organization between Canada, California, and any other state that secedes because they prefer democracy over fascism.
It's funny that Trump says Canada isn't a viable country because he's making the USA into non-viable country. The hatred in the red states towards states like California was kinda there already, but he's just fanning those flames. It seems various regions of the US are forming into distinct cultures with very different values. Maybe the US is just too big to be sustainable.

But none of this gets to the most jaw-dropping part of this. Musk and Thiel propose making this network of hundreds of surveillance and attack satellites into a subscription service that the Musk/Thiel/Luckey consortium would own and the Pentagon would subscribe to. Not only is this crazy and absurd but it goes without saying that in no normal time would anyone at the Pentagon be okay with the US not owning the hardware at the center of national defense. We’ve seen how this goes with Starlink, where Musk routinely threatens to turn the system on or off based on his whims and opens up separate lines of communications and perhaps deals with adversary leaders like Vladimir Putin.
Of course Musk and Thiel and Palmer freaking Luckey would use this opportunity to not only get apparent no-bid contracts to build this unworkable mess, they'd get permanent parasitic access to government funds just to keep it going.
No part of this makes any strategic sense.

AG-3 satellite
The AG-3 satellite (standing for "Anti-Goa'uld") was a planetary defense platform Dr. Daniel Jackson invented during a dream sequence triggered by Shifu.Contributors to SGCommand (Fandom, Inc.)
The three companies met with top officials in the Trump administration and the Pentagon in recent weeks to pitch their plan, which would build and launch 400 to more than 1,000 satellites circling the globe to sense missiles and track their movement, sources said.A separate fleet of 200 attack satellites armed with missiles or lasers would then bring enemy missiles down, three of the sources said.
People in one forum speculated about Trump's "Golden dome" fantasy a few months ago. I did a calculation on the back of a napkin. My result: not 1000 or 200, but about 9000 interceptor vehicles are required for good coverage. Very lucrative contract, very impractical system - they'll drive the US bankrupt doing this.
And what will a nuclear-armed adversary do? At first, they might do an atmospheric nuclear detonation high over their own country - to get a little privacy. After that, a small number of missiles will launch on flight paths not leading to the target - to create gaps in the sensor and interceptor network by detonating near them in space. Maybe a few minutes later, the main attack will follow. When approaching the target area, the vanguard of the main attack will detonate in atmosphere to ionize air (turn it opaque to radar). Nuclear weapons do not need sensors to navigate or communicate, they use inertial navigation and remain silent. Interceptors need to see and communicate, which can be denied with nuclear weapons.
End result: an advanced attacker will have to spend about 10 minutes to penetrate this defense. It only buys more time to launch a nuclear counter-attack (which could be launched anyway, based on mere observation and early warning).
Satellites are bound by their orbits to spend a lot of time in useless places from the viewpoint of defending a location. This kind of a system makes the defending side over-invest in infrastructure, which is not economical.

One of the impressive things about chips ever since the 70's, is how they've become ever denser and ever more powerful, so they are now more than 50 ~~thousand~~ million times more complex, going from little more than a thousands, to 50 billion transistors as per 5 years ago! Yet modern chips remain very reliable, and the biggest vulnerability is not inherent, but from targeted hostile attacks against them.

The higher the clock speed, the more time a transistor spends half-on. This is why things like undervolting and underclocking reduce power usage.
Physically smaller transistors usually also means it takes less electrons to saturate the gate, so it allows lower voltages and currents to be used, while still toggling the state at the same speed. (Not to mention timing gets easier the closer the transistors are to each other)
