Channel 4 to show Gaza war crimes documentary rejected by BBC

By Elis Gjevori
Published date: 28 June 2025 21:08 BST

"Channel 4 will broadcast Gaza: Doctors Under Attack, a documentary laying out damning allegations that Israeli forces systematically targeted Gaza's hospitals and medical staff throughout their military campaign—allegations which would amount to grave breaches of international law.

"This is a meticulously reported and important film examining evidence which supports allegations of grave breaches of international law by Israeli forces," said L. Compton, Channel 4's Head of News and Current Affairs. "It exemplifies Channel 4's commitment to brave and fearless journalism," she added.

[Opinion] The famine in Gaza: When a nibble of food is stolen from the hungry

For many long months, the Gaza Strip has been groaning under the weight of a devastating war; one that has left no stone unturned, no heart untouched by sorrow, and no home untainted by the scent of death. Hunger was never a passing guest in this besieged land, but in this war, it has become the dominant force, creeping into exhausted bodies and gripping the hearts of mothers who find nothing to feed their children. In this corner of the earth, famine has become an undeniable reality.

Republican Senate tax bill would add $3.3 trillion to the US debt load, CBO says

The changes made to President Donald Trump’s big tax bill in the Senate would pile trillions onto the nation’s debt load while resulting in even steeper losses in health care coverage, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said in a new analysis, adding to the challenges for Republicans as they try to muscle the bill to passage.

(Islamophobia) Leaked Chats Show Pro-Israel Extremist Group Betar Organizing Street Confrontations

Founded as a paramilitary Zionist organization in 1923, Betar Worldwide has a prominent far-right chapter in the US that has aided the Trump administration’s deportation efforts by doxxing and agitating against pro-Palestine organizers.

The chat logs show its members, including individuals publicly affiliated with Betar US, discussing a range of plans and ideas: to protest at mosques, burn Qurans to provoke confrontations, and coordinate buying pepper spray, lasers, and other illicit devices to confront pro-Palestine protests in New York City.

In that same chat, others shared that they are collecting information on pro-Palestine activists to forward to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Israeli Soldiers Killed at Least 410 People at Food Aid Sites in Gaza This Month

"For months, environmental researcher Yaakov Garb has been using satellite data to analyze the design, location, and expansion of these facilities. Garb, a professor at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, found in an analysis published earlier this month on Harvard Dataverse that most of Gaza’s population cannot access these centers in a safe and practical way. Doing so requires crossing the dangerous Netzarim Corridor, entering a buffer zone from which Israel has banned them from entering, or a long walk across a barren rubble field, while carrying a heavy box of food."

The Decline of Usability: Revisited | datagubbe.se

In which we once more delve into the world of user interface design.

Autumn 2023

Three years ago, I wrote a rant about the problems of our current UI paradigm. The complaints I voiced were hardly new or unique, neither was the text what I'd consider my best writing. It was, honestly, mostly a way to blow off steam. It seems I struck a nerve, though, because it's proven to be one of the most popular texts I've published here. For some time, I've thought about writing a follow-up, and a recent resurgence in the text's popularity prompted me to finally do so.

[…]

What were we talking about?

Usability, as defined by Wikipedia, is "the capacity of a system to provide a condition for its users to perform the tasks safely, effectively, and efficiently while enjoying the experience." Its relation to software is further specified: "In software engineering, usability is the degree to which a software can be used by specified consumers to achieve quantified objectives with effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction in a quantified context of use." […]

In short, usability is the ease with which a predetermined task can be accomplished. Consequently, "It looks fresh" isn't usability; it's aesthetics. Likewise, the lack of a specific program feature isn't the same as being able to use it as easily, efficiently and safely as possible. […]

Defeat is not a goal, and war is not a likelihood

The destabilization of Iran and distraction from Israel's Palestinian genocide, and the vilification of Islam to aid in both of those things, are the actual goals, and those can be accomplished through the threat of war and the propaganda campaigns that accompny it.

I generally agree, but seems like the cost for the empire might be prohibitive. We can already see how they failed with Yemen, and not for lack of trying.

- Giuseppe Iannozzi
