A leading global authority on famine on Monday accused Israel of orchestrating a carefully planned campaign of mass starvation in the Gaza Strip, remarks that came amid a steadily rising death toll from malnutrition caused by the 654-day U.S.-backed Israeli siege and obliteration of the Palestinian enclave.

"I've been working on this topic for more than four decades, and there is no case since World War II of starvation that is being so minutely designed and controlled," Alex de Waal, executive director of the World Peace Foundation at Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, told Al Jazeera.

It's a XXI century Holocaust.

This was expectable ever since Israeli leader started openly making statements about Palestinians when were extreme similar to what the Nazis said about the Jews and the Roma, for example calling them "human animals" and "vermin" and talking about having a "Final plan" for Gaza.

The Zionists are the present day version of the Nazis, and they're well on track to doing the same thing, this time around with the help of pro-Nazi governments in the West, especially the US, UK and Germany.

in reply to Aceticon

This parallel long predates Israel itself, or even the holocaust. In the early 20th century, there are many letters in yiddish, and other public statements fun within the Jewish community, that were sent to yiddish newspapers criticizing zionism for using parallel language to "Hitlerism" and similar movements that were spreading across Europe.

Israel is Attacking Deir al-Balah, Gaza’s Last Standing City

Israel’s military campaign in Deir al-Balah on Sunday marked the first time since the beginning of the war 21 months ago that Israeli troops launched a major offensive on the city, located in central #Gaza. Unlike every other major city or town in Gaza—including Gaza City, Khan Younis, Jabaliya, Rafah, Beit Lahia, and others—Deir al-Balah is the only city in Gaza that had not yet been subject to a major Israeli ground operation or suffered widespread devastation.

Google, Microsoft say Chinese hackers are exploiting SharePoint zero-day

Security researchers at Google and Microsoft say they have evidence that hackers backed by China are exploiting a zero-day bug in Microsoft SharePoint, as companies around the world scramble to patch the flaw.

The bug, known officially as CVE-2025-53770 and discovered last weekend, allows hackers to steal sensitive private keys from self-hosted versions of SharePoint, a software server widely used by companies and organizations to store and share internal documents. Once exploited, an attacker can use the bug to remotely plant malware and gain access to the files and data stored within, as well as gain access to other systems on the same network.

Technology reshared this.

in reply to Dr. Moose

almost makes one forget this is a problem that Microsoft created.
in reply to TheReturnOfPEB

Well yes these type of things can happen to virtually any type of complex software to anyone. Though the lacking response is concerning.
in reply to Dr. Moose

When I say things like, "Use linux, the attack surface is much smaller", people say, "well, that won't last forever", to which I say, "if a trillion dollar company can drop the ball like this, I'm taking the route less travelled because society doesn't change quickly, Microsoft isn't going anywhere in my forseeable future"

I love how this paints the affirmation as some random unprovoked act and not the counter reaction to the harassment, because if they would paint it as what is it, a counter reaction to the harassment, then it would become obvious that the "live and let live" approach is under attack by bigots and the affirmation is an attempt to counter the attack and reinstate "live and let live".

This individual posted this at open Christian, and defended it as trying to protect women. I'll say it again: genocide apologia, disffirmation of lgbtqia, in a nearly naked attempt to uphold the patriarchy. Nope.

AI Friend Apps Are Destroying What’s Left of Society

As they become increasingly isolated, people are treating AI chatbots as friends and even lovers. We have to fix the broken society that made this possible.

The israeli child-killing army shot 600 starving Palestinians at an aid distribution point today after lining them up with their hands raised.

EuroMed human rights monitor reports:

When the first groups arrived, Israeli tanks were already stationed in the area. Soldiers then used loudspeakers to command: “Raise your hands and walk in front of the tanks—those who want flour, come forward.” Around 200 civilians complied.

As they neared the aid trucks, Israeli forces suddenly opened heavy fire directly at their heads, instantly killing dozens. Others were left crawling, wounded, and bleeding. The massacre left 80 dead and over 520 injured, many of whom are in critical condition.

Notably, these attacks coincide with the peak of mass starvation across the Gaza Strip, where deaths from malnutrition are now documented and dozens have been hospitalised due to exhaustion and lack of food.

Seriously ... Aside from write and call my representatives, what can I do to help stop this.... What can any of us do?

Serious question if anyone has a serious suggestion.

in reply to LordCrom

Not sure what one can do, but if you need a good distracting hobby I've heard FPV drone racing is quite a bit of fun.
in reply to AlHouthi4President

We must stop dancing around this issue and use the proper language to describe Israel’s war on Palestine.

  1. This is not a "conflict"—it is a massacre.
  2. Starving people to death is genocide.
  3. Starving people is morally indefensible.
  4. Israel is a genocidal state, and its leaders must be held legally accountable for the deaths of innocent men, women, and children.
  5. All countries supporting Israel are complicit and equally accountable.
  6. News media outlets that remain silent or support Israel deserve condemnation.
  7. As civilians, we must treat this massacre as unacceptable and voice our horror to our representatives. If they refuse to act against Israel, they are pro-genocide.

This is not a time for complacency. Enough deaths in Palestine.
We must stop Israel’s genocidal government now.

In one of the most sweeping changes, the department plans to reverse a 2013 rule that extended minimum wage and overtime protections to home healthcare workers.

These workers, who care for elderly and other medically frail individuals, already make less than $17 an hour on average.

I have high hopes for Mistral. They've been working very hard on becoming an open, honest and secure player in the AI game. Being from France and thus having to adhere to the GDPR and EU AI Act. The transparency is also very welcome. They did sign the letter to postpone the EU AI Act by years, which was questionable.

Stepping out and showing the numbers, which are pretty damn hefty, is a ballsy move. Let's hope they also focus on reusing the huge amount of water that gets pulled for cooling, though.

I'm not a fan of AI for its impact on the planet, but numbers like this hopefully makes people aware and consienceous about it. It will probably be here to stay for a good while, so AI companies being honest and working towards a more efficient and greener system will be a welcome treat.

in reply to kcweller

The way they show their equivalence is very useful. The water and materials especially. Though the ghg is a little odd as streaming is in itself a complex web.
