The dangerously blurry line between wellness and medical tech
Let me catch you up. On July 15th, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent Whoop a letter. In it, the FDA declared that Whoop — maker of a niche fitness tracker favored by elite athletes — had crossed a line. Its new Blood Pressure Insights feature, the regulator said, was being marketed to customers without undergoing the proper clearance process.In response, Whoop pulled out the W word: wellness.
In the world of health and wearable tech, “wellness” is sort of like a “get out of jail free” card. Some advanced health features, like EKGs and atrial fibrillation notifications, require regulatory clearance before consumers can use them. These features could be interpreted as diagnostic in nature or prompt a person to make a medical decision. Others, like step tracking and blood oxygen measurements, don’t require FDA oversight at all. They’re simply meant to make living a healthy life easier by helping you visualize certain measurable markers. Those features fall under the wellness umbrella. They’re “just for fun.”

It’s interesting how almost every model released in 2025 has specifically targeting coding. That focus has clearly been paying off: these coding models are getting really good now.
I still contend that this sort of task is uniquely positioned to show off LLMs. The idea that they'll turn into agents that can do real-world tasks remains a fantasy. Despite how impressive this is, they're losing money and have no real path to profitability.
Look up Ed Zitron's newsletter and podcast for more info on why the industry is a bubble. I'm genuinely impressed with this specific example, but our economy is gonna suffer when the bubble bursts.

NASSAU, Bahamas, July 29 (Reuters) - When SpaceX was negotiating a deal with the Bahamas last year to allow its Falcon 9 rocket boosters to land within the island nation's territory, Elon Musk's company offered a sweetener: complimentary Starlink internet terminals for the country's defense vessels, according to three people familiar with the matter.
The rocket landing deal, unlocking a more efficient path to space for SpaceX's reusable Falcon 9, was then signed in February last year by Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, who bypassed consultation with several other key government ministers, one of the sources and another person familiar with the talks said.
Reuters found no evidence that Cooper broke any laws or regulations in striking the deal with SpaceX, but the people said the quick approval created tension within the Bahamian government.

The company must pay a $100,000 fee per landing, pursuant to the country's space regulations it enacted in preparation for the SpaceX activities.

Una curiosità: per quanto mi è concesso comprendere attraverso i traduttori, la pratica ha subito preso l’appellativo informale di “小米马拉松” o “小米馬拉松”, cioè “MARATONA XIAOMI“… non ce la posso fare!!! E data questa denominazione, giustamente, è partito il meme dell'”esame fisico di ammissione al college sportivo di Xiaomi“… perché giustamente devi prendere rapidamente il dispositivo e scappare, immediatamente. Always make we wonder, how would I feel if one day I woke to the fact that aliens, orders of magnitude more advanced, were protecting Earth from their influence. I can't internalize the difference in a stone age tribe and my life now. Logically, yes. Emotionally, no even close.

Great, now look at electrical issues.
Blaming the pilot benefits the airline, to avoid claims of poor maintenance, and the airplane maker, to avoid claims of a shitty aircraft.
If it was an electrical issue, they wouldn't have been able to just turn them back on, which one of the pilots did.
The two switches were moved to off sequentially with the right amount of gap for a human doing it quickly. One of the pilots then questioned why they were off, and they were then both turned back on individually a short time later.
The possibility the FAA was investigating was whether the latches on the switches may not work, allowing them to be moved unintentionally. This was unlikely due to the timing, but they still had to eliminate it.
I've read that the flight-deck voice-recorder captured something like "why did you shut-off the fuel-lines?"..
Those powerplants need fuel measured in litres-PER-SECOND, not per minute, the way piston-engines do.
( There's a channel on yt by a guy AgenJayZ, he has a turbojet-repair shop in the Praries, in Canada..
he showed, in 1 of his videos, how he tests a single fuel-nozzle, for 1 ( of 5 ) combustor-cans in a jet he was working-on..

Times 5, & you've got 140-imperial-gallons/minute pouring into that SINGLE jet-engine..

Religon is a mass murderer. Doesn't matter what religion. It's people first or religion first, it can't be both. So, they choose religion - and many people die. Horribly.
This happens continually all over the world. Religions hurt people far, far, far more than their bullshit claims about how they help people. You can never help people by putting ficitonal people over real people.
Here you can see jainists, widely considered one of the most peaceful religions on the planet - that are mass murderers. But, how can that be if they're so peaceful? Well, it's lies and extremism. They lie about how peaceful they are, and people give them trust for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Take anything too far, and it's a bad thing. So they take it too far, it's bad, and people die.

Yes wifi and Bluetooth are used to track your location. That's why Android requires you to grant location permissions to apps that want to access them.
In other words, if they have this information, it's because you explicitly gave them permission to collect it. Don't do that.
