Or to touch on the matter lightly instead of going into it thoroughly, so as to keep on good terms. The result is that both the organization and the individual are harmed. This is one type of liberalism.
To indulge in irresponsible criticism in private instead of actively putting forward one's suggestions to the organization. To say nothing to people to their faces but to gossip behind their backs, or to say nothing at a meeting but to gossip afterwards. To show no regard at all for the principles of collective life but to follow one's own inclination. This is a second type.
To let things drift if they do not affect one personally; to say as little as possible while knowing perfectly well what is wrong, to be worldly wise and play safe and seek only to avoid blame. This is a third type.
Not to obey orders but to give pride of place to one's own opinions. To demand special consideration from the organization but to reject its discipline. This is a fourth type.
To indulge in personal attacks, pick quarrels, vent personal spite or seek revenge instead of entering into an argument and struggling against incorrect views for the sake of unity or progress or getting the work done properly. This is a fifth type.
To hear incorrect views without rebutting them and even to hear counter-revolutionary remarks without reporting them, but instead to take them calmly as if nothing had happened. This is a sixth type.
To be among the masses and fail to conduct propaganda and agitation or speak at meetings or conduct investigations and inquiries among them, and instead to be indifferent to them and show no concern for their well-being, forgetting that one is a Communist and behaving as if one were an ordinary non-Communist. This is a seventh type.
To see someone harming the interests of the masses and yet not feel indignant, or dissuade or stop him or reason with him, but to allow him to continue. This is an eighth type.
To work half-heartedly without a definite plan or direction; to work perfunctorily and muddle along--"So long as one remains a monk, one goes on tolling the bell." This is a ninth type.
To regard oneself as having rendered great service to the revolution, to pride oneself on being a veteran, to disdain minor assignments while being quite unequal to major tasks, to be slipshod in work and slack in study. This is a tenth type.
To be aware of one's own mistakes and yet make no attempt to correct them, taking a liberal attitude towards oneself. This is an eleventh type.
We could name more. But these eleven are the principal types.
They are all manifestations of liberalism.
Liberalism is extremely harmful in a revolutionary collective. It is a corrosive which eats away unity, undermines cohesion, causes apathy and creates dissension. It robs the revolutionary ranks of compact organization and strict discipline, prevents policies from being carried through and alienates the Party organizations from the masses which the Party leads. It is an extremely bad tendency.
Liberalism stems from petty-bourgeois selfishness, it places personal interests first and the interests of the revolution second, and this gives rise to ideological, political and organizational liberalism.
People who are liberals look upon the principles of Marxism as abstract dogma. They approve of Marxism, but are not prepared to practice it or to practice it in full; they are not prepared to replace their liberalism by Marxism. These people have their Marxism, but they have their liberalism as well--they talk Marxism but practice liberalism; they apply Marxism to others but liberalism to themselves. They keep both kinds of goods in stock and find a use for each. This is how the minds of certain people work.
Liberalism is a manifestation of opportunism and conflicts fundamentally with Marxism. It is negative and objectively has the effect of helping the enemy; that is why the enemy welcomes its preservation in our midst. Such being its nature, there should be no place for it in the ranks of the revolution.
We must use Marxism, which is positive in spirit, to overcome liberalism, which is negative. A Communist should have largeness of mind and he should be staunch and active, looking upon the interests of the revolution as his very life and subordinating his personal interests to those of the revolution; always and everywhere he should adhere to principle and wage a tireless struggle against all incorrect ideas and actions, so as to consolidate the collective life of the Party and strengthen the ties between the Party and the masses; he should be more concerned about the Party and the masses than about any private person, and more concerned about others than about himself. Only thus can he be considered a Communist.
All loyal, honest, active and upright Communists must unite to oppose the liberal tendencies shown by certain people among us, and set them on the right path. This is one of the tasks on our ideological front.

That's the thing though. The MIC hawks that do all the evil shit will be just fine, they've got money and connections. Most of their supporters will be fine for a good while, they're the right color. The collateral damage is primarily going to be the children, the working class, the immigrants getting sent off to camps.
The people most responsible for the evil done by this country will be the last ones to suffer, if they're not long dead by the time "find out" comes home to roost. The bulk of the suffering will be the people who hate it as much as you.
That's why it's better to join a good org like PSL, so that the working class can actually take charge, rather than walk hand in hand into barbarism. Returning to the beginning of this thread, the DNC and GOP are both relatively the same when it comes to foreign policy. They already are close to the same domestically, but they are near identical for the global south, because the US Empire is the world's imperialist hegemon. The working class needs to work towards decolonization, anti-imperialism, and socialism, and it can only do so through its own party, not bourgeois parties. We must be practical, simply trying to work with the tools the empire wants us to will never work.

As such, I created the following list to take you from no knowledge whatsoever of Leftist theory, and leave you with a strong understanding of the critical fundamentals of Marxism-Leninism in an order that builds up as you read. Let's get started!
Section I: Getting Started
What the heck is Communism, anyways? For that matter, what is fascism?
Breaks down fascism and its mortal enemy, Communism, as well as their antagonistic relationship. Understanding what fascism is, where and when it rises, why it does so, and how to banish it forever is critical. Parenti also helps debunk common anti-Communist myths, from both the "left" and the right, in a quick-witted writing style. This is also an excellent time to watch the famous speech.
Section II: Historical and Dialectical Materialism
By far my favorite primer on Marxist philosophy. By understanding Dialectical and Historical Materialism first, you make it easier to understand the rest of Marxism-Leninism. Don't be intimidated!
Further reading on Dialectical and Historical Materialism, but crucially introduces the why of Scientific Socialism, explaining how Capitalism itself prepares the conditions for public ownership and planning by centralizing itself into monopolist syndicates. This is also where Engels talks about the failures of previous "Utopian" Socialists.
Section III: Political Economy
That's right, it's time for the Law of Value and a deep-dive into Imperialism. If we are to defeat Capitalism, we must learn it's mechanisms, tendencies, contradictions, and laws.
Best taken as a pair, these essays simplify the most important parts of the Law of Value. Marx is targetting those not trained in economics here, but you might want to keep a pen and some paper to follow along if you are a visual person.
Absolutely crucial and the most important work for understanding the modern era and its primary contradictions. Marxist-Leninists understand that Imperialism is the greatest contradiction in the modern era, which cascades downward into all manner of related contradictions. Knowing what dying Capitalism looks like, and how it behaves, means we can kill it.
Section IV: Revolutionary and Scientific Socialism
Can we defeat Capitalism at the ballot box? What about just defeating fascism? What about the role of the state?
If Marxists believed reforming Capitalist society was possible, we would be the first in line for it. Sadly, it isn't possible, which Luxemburg proves in this monumental writing.
Excellent refutation of revisionists and Social Democrats who think the State can be reformed, without needing to be replaced with one that is run by the workers, in their own interests.
Section V: Intersectionality and Solidarity
The revolution will not be fought by atomized individuals, but by an intersectional, international working class movement. Intersectionality is critical, because it allows different marginalized groups to work together in collective interest, unifying into a broad movement.
Critical reading on understanding misogyny, transphobia, enbyphobia, pluralphobia, and homophobia, as well as how to move beyond the base subject of "gender." Uses the foundations built up in the previous works to analyze gender theory from a Historical Materialist perspective.
De-colonialism is essential to Marxism. Without having a strong, de-colonial, internationalist stance, we have no path to victory nor a path to justice. Fanon analyzes Colonialism's dehumanizing effects, and lays out how to form a de-colonial movement, as well as its necessity.
Solidarity and intersectionality are the key to any social movement. When different social groups fight for liberation together along intersectional lines, the movements are emboldened and empowered ever-further.
Section VI: Putting it into Practice!
It's not enough to endlessly read, you must put theory to practice. That is how you can improve yourself and the movements you support. Touch grass!
Mao wrote simply and directly, targeting peasant soldiers during the Revolutionary War in China. This pair of essays equip the reader with the ability to apply the analytical tools of Dialectical Materialism to their every day practice, and better understand problems.

With your new understanding and knowledge of Marxism-Leninism, here is a mini What is to be Done? of your own to follow, and take with you as practical advice.
Get organized. Join a Leftist org, find solidarity with fellow comrades, and protect each other. The Dems will not save you, it is up to us to protect ourselves. The Party for Socialism and Liberation and Freedom Road Socialist Organization both organize year round, every year, because the battle for progress is a constant struggle, not a single election. See if there is a chapter near you, or start one! Or, see if there's an org you like more near you and join it.
Read theory. Don't think that you are done now! Just because you have the basics, doesn't mean you know more than you do. If you have not investigated a subject, don't speak on it! Don't speak nonsense, but listen!
Aggressively combat white supremacy, misogyny, queerphobia, and other attacks on marginalized communities. Cede no ground, let nobody be forgotten or left behind. There is strength in numbers, when one marginalized group is targeted, many more are sure to follow.
Be industrious, and self-sufficient. Take up gardening, home repair, tinkering. It is through practice that you elevate your problem-solving capabilities. Not only will you improve your skill at one subject, but your general problem-solving muscles get strengthened as well.
Learn self-defense. Get armed, if practical. Be ready to protect yourself and others. Liberals will not save us, we must save each other.
Be persistent. If you feel like a single water droplet against a mountain, think of canyons and valleys. Oh, how our efforts pile up! With consistency, every rock, boulder, even mountain, can be drilled through with nothing but steady and persistent water droplets.

That's my understanding as well. If China can help Cuba deploy solar at scale then their main problem goes away. Incidentally, this is true for the rest of the world as well. It was created by youtubers to try and gain independence from youtube, it's ~~cooperatively~~ owned by the creators. It is mostly the same as those creators youtube content but with no ads and less ad friendly parts added in, occasionally a creator will put out some passion project that wouldn't work on an ad supported platform. It skews edutainment and video essay type stuff, contrapoints, strange parts, tom scott, philosophy tube and Not Just Bikes are a few that are involved. Quite a lot of content overall but most of it available on youtube.

So far i haven't come across something better than odysee. It has a community, but like most alternatives for larger platforms, the userbase is smaller, and often times i'll also find some unhinged conspiratorial comments on there that are kinda off putting to me lol.
If having a community is a requirement for OP, then I'd say Odysee kinda sucks because it's full of National Socialists. Though I primary go there for watching videos, so a few nose emoji spammers don't bother me.
I also dislike that it shows recommendations/related videos. That's an anti-feature of YouTube for me, so I don't want it on Odysee either. That phone is pretty much the most innovative smartphone of all time. But on youtube there's a video stress-testing how it would hold up to real life conditions... and it gets completely destroyed by a handful of sand. Same applies to pretty much all foldables: if you get any sand or dirt in the folds, you can easily destroy the screens.
Yea, I just want a good, small form-factor smartphone with excellent battery life, a decent camera, and a nice screen, really. Foldables are both way overkill for that and not as durable.

i'm forced to make due with a VASTLY inferior "american" phone (and for the same price). i'm waiting for the day that graphane/postmarket/lineage/etc. starts supporting my redmi model.
I'd really like a smaller phone too, and I think that some of the better companies like Oneplus are starting to offer smaller variants (Oneplus 13T and 13S just got released a few months ago, and they're 6.3" whereas most now are 6.8").
Besides that tho I've found OnePlus and Xiaomi phones to be pretty unbeatable the past few years, for battery life and fast charging.
Would be nice if phones from PRC-based companies weren't so legislated against in the US Empire. On a sunny street in shattered Gaza, the bundle containing Zainab Abu Halib represented the latest death from starvation after 21 months of war and Israeli restrictions on aid.
The baby was brought to the pediatric department of Nasser Hospital on Friday. She was already dead. A worker at the morgue carefully removed her Mickey Mouse-printed shirt, pulling it over her sunken, open eyes. He pulled up the hems of her pants to show her knobby knees. The girl had weighed over 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) when she was born, her mother said. When she died, she weighed less than 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds).
A doctor said it was a case of “severe, severe starvation.”
No disrespect intended. What's happening in Gaza is the most horrific event I've witnessed in my lifetime. But I have to ask, why would anyone there be creating people when their country has been getting bombed for the past year?

I'm questioning why people in G aza specifically, which is an active warzone with no food or water, where kids are targetted with violence, would bring babies there.
I'm trying to gain insight into the situation and minds of the people there.
Children are being slaughtered. As a human being, I personally wouldn't want to add to that. But that's just me. I may be ignorant to the thinking of the people there.
there is incredible amount of human suffering. it is weird to he asking that question amongst all of that suffering. What are you suggesting they do if they become pregnant and all hospitals are filled with bombed people? What would you do in that situation? How would you seek your abortion that is the objectively morally correct choice according to you?
Sex feels good, and can be an escape from the relentless nihilism knowing that a bomb could fall on their heads tomorrow, or a bullet from an IOF officer takes them out.
Then, you have to think about contraceptives. If those aren't abundant, people won't use them, so more kids. Same is true for abortion care, which I doubt many Palestinians have after Israel bombed most if not all of Gaza's hospitals.

Yeah, but kind of ruins the joke of not filing taxes. A real photography from the total Milky Way don't exist, because we are part of it and at the moment not capable to leave enough to make a photo of the whole thing. All photos are recreations, inspired by the aspect of other galaxies, eg. Andromeda, or also from mathematic models, using the distances from the other objects.
A lot of the images from the NASA or ESA, are recreations or at least with edited colors, because they are made with radio-or infrared telescopes having as result only a list of numbers or contrast maps. It's like sharing in Lemmy, instead of an memr, the hex values of the B/W image.

if government workers are far-right, then it's best to dismiss them and help them find another normal job. Another worker then can be hired.
Generally, a government worker should be expected to do as the law says, insofar the law is not repressive for the community. When the law favours the far-right and reactionaries, then it is not reasonable, and it is duty to rise up.
When the law favours neutrality, that is, not bribed in favour for fascism, then it is reasonable.
Actually prosecuting the perpetrators rather than giving olive-branch after olive-branch like Biden did seems far more effective at reducing the risk of another coup (or electoral comeback based on claims the courts are being weaponized since they're no conviction to point at).
