Is switching from /e/ OS to Google's Android an option?

I would like to try the new Fairphone with /e/ OS. But I am afraid that it won't work for me. In that case, is it possible to install Google's Android on the Fairphone I originally ordered with /e/ OS?

Meme "Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works. — Steve Jobs"

Mac OS for VMWare

Hi folks, I am wondering what would you recommend as OS for a win 11 host using VMW for an optimum mac experience.
I used to have a Hackintosh back in the day Macron had a wife not a husband but now that time is over and i am looking for advise
in reply to Naas

WTF did I just read 😂

Win11 is your host OS as you say. Recommend OS for what? You.. Mean macOS?

This Month’s Poem

A Modern Hiawatha
George A Strong

When he killed the Mudjokivis,
Of the skin he made him mittens,
Made them with the fur side inside,
Made them with the skin side outside.
He, to get the warm side inside,
Put the inside skin side outside;
He, to get the cold side outside,
Put the warm side fur side inside.
That’s why he put the fur side inside,
Why he put the skin side outside,
Why he turned them inside outside.

Parasocial relationships: How well do we really know the people we follow online?

You know their children's names, their go-to breakfast and the story of their breakdown - but to them, you're just another faceless follower. Sound familiar? Parasocial relationships have become part of life online - but what does it mean to be in one? And do they do more harm than good?

Rehabbing an old Mac, need a specific ancient key or keygen that seems impossible to find

Ahoy, all! I am rehabbing an old MacBook Pro, running Mojave, which I keep local LAN only (MAC filtering at router) so I can share files and print from it but it never communicates with the wider net. This makes it perfect to use for the older versions of apps like Adobe Creative Suite 5 and MSOffice that I far prefer over newer versions, and I already have those working fine.

My sole problem is Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac, which requires a key, ANY locally valid key, to get past the initial setup, and I don't have mine anymore.

Problem is, nobody has any. I can find entire lists of keys for the Windows version of Acrobat Pro 9, no exaggeration, but for Mac? Crickets.

I've looked high and low, and nothing. I even looked at maybe a cracked install of only Acrobat Pro, but all the vetted cracked versions of Acrobat Pro on the seas are much newer, which I'm pretty certain I cannot run in tandem on the same box with Adobe CS 5.

I even tried the AMT folder thing, where you can at least get a trial code from your own install that you then increment up as needed to extend the trial indefinitely, but that is for Acrobat X and up: this folder literally does not exist on this machine, though it does for later versions on both Windows and Mac.

I mean, a key, that's it. That's all I need. One key that was valid at some point in the last fifteen years, doesn't even have to be good anymore.

Any ideas or suggestions as to where to look? Thanks in advance for all assistance.

in reply to ChunkMcHorkle

i dont own a mac but i've found one from macintosh garden, not sure if this works tho
in reply to RelativeArea1

Dude. This one worked. All it needed was to be valid one time, and it was. And they have the updates as well, if I decide to install them.

Many thanks. Seriously. May it come back to you.

Is MacSerialJunkie still a thing? What about iSerial Reader? (It’s been like 20 years since I’ve been in the scene haha)
in reply to ayyy

Woah, just reading iSerial Reader brought back a flood of Mac piracy memories from the depths of my brain.

in reply to ayyy

I've never heard of either of them but the MacSerialJunkie forum is still up, it's just exceedingly slllllllooooowwwww and requires registration (fair enough).

There are sites that claim to have iSerialReader, but a new version that looks really sketch from a different site, and is apparently geared toward newer releases from what little I could see. The old version, probably the one you're thinking of, appears to have been great, one of those straightforward things that you could get from a single place that kept it updated with crowdsourced data, but it's not around anymore.

I'll definitely have a look at the MacSerialJunkie forum when I get a chance, because at first glance it looks like they've kept all their posts since 2008, which might prove helpful for anyone like me running vintage apps on an old Mac. Thanks for the recommend, really appreciated.

What specifically is Sonarr/Radarr?

Exactly the title. I'm researching having a jellyfin server and downloading media seems like it would be tedious (the way I've done it once or twice previously). I could use some clarity on what Sonarr is, what it looks like (like is there a GUI?? I'm too stupid to run something off of a terminal), and how it works. I'm familiar with torrenting but not with usenet, and I use the megathread from this community. Can someone explain Sonarr/Radarr to me in a way that would be understandable to someone at my level of understanding?
in reply to Cattypat

If you aren't already self-hosting services and aren't really comfortable with command line, you might want to look at something like CasaOS and this video: youtu.be/QfpZcXXGpVA

I watched it several times when building my stack and still go back to it from time to time.

Ultimately, Sonarr and Radarr take away the tedium of running your media server. You tell it what you want, it does the work of finding, obtaining, naming, and sorting. Then Jellyfin picks it up automatically. Jellyseerr, as others have said, puts a nice shiny coat of paint on it.

Others have explained it well. Just want to add a recommendation to use the trash guides (trash-guides.info/) to configure these apps. You can use Notifiarr to sync these changes automatically too

In the age of $70+ AAA games with additional costs, not everyone celebrated the consumer friendly price. Some independent game developers have expressed concern that their games may not sell as well compared to Silksong and cannot afford to charge less.

Where did this line come from? I see no mention of that quote in any of the links from the /. post, and it doesn't help that the quote doesn't cite a specific developer, either.

Elon Musk calls for dissolution of parliament at far-right rally in London

Musk, the owner of X, who dialled in via a video link and spoke to Robinson while thousands watched and listened, also railed against the “woke mind virus” and told the crowd that “violence is coming” and that “you either fight back or you die”. [...]

He said: “There’s so much violence on the left, with our friend Charlie Kirk getting murdered in cold blood this week and people on the left celebrating it openly. The left is the party of murder and celebrating murder. I mean, let that sink in for a minute, that’s who we’re dealing with here.”
