Alright, buckle up. What we have here in Stoltenberg's own words is an unintentional confession slip that lays bare the reality of Europe's geopolitical colonization by the United States.
The entire narrative is framed around a single, paralyzing fear that the empire might lose interest. Stoltenberg isn't worried about a military threat from Russia in this extract, what he's terrified of is the withdrawal of the American security umbrella.
The "alliance" is revealed as nothing more than a protection racket, and Stoltenberg is just an anxious middle-manager ensuring the tribute is visibly being paid to keep the boss happy. The "zero tolerance" for eye-rolling at Trump is the behavior of a vassal state that knows its security depends on the whims of a distant, mercurial emperor. They have to laugh at the right jokes and swallow their pride because their sovereignty is, and has been since 1945, fundamentally conditional.
The most damning evidence is the sheer transactional nature of it all. Stoltenberg’s strategy had fuck all to do with principles, shared values, or democracy. He came to provide Trump with a "graph that illustrated spending was increasing" and flatter him by attributing any spending increases to his leadership. The climax of the 2018 summit was Stoltenberg literally reading from a note Trump handed him in a performative act of submission to placate the patron.
When the Danish PM finally snapped, pointing out the blood tribute Denmark paid in Afghanistan, it was a fleeting moment of rebellion against this entire colonial dynamic serving as reminder that the "burden" isn't just money, but that protest that is immediately swallowed by the overwhelming need to keep the system intact.
In the end, Stoltenberg's "success" is measured solely by his ability to keep the sovereign engaged. His political survival hinged on feeding Trump's ego with the $33bn figure and a positive press conference.
The memoir unwittingly shows us that for Europe's political class, true strategic autonomy is a phantom. Their primary function is to manage the relationship with Washington, proving their continued usefulness to avoid being deemed obsolete, just like Trump initially called NATO. It's a portrait of a continent that has long since mortgaged its geopolitical soul.

Smear. Kill. Repeat. The chilling playbook Israel has developed for journalists in Gaza. (24min Video)
In this special episode, we examine the systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists in Gaza during two years of Israeli genocide. With international media barred from freely reporting in the Strip, local journalists have risked their lives to document the unprecedented killing, destruction and displacement around them.Since October 7, 2023, more media workers have been killed in Gaza than in any modern conflict. Families have been torn apart, homes and offices destroyed, and reporters have been wounded, seen their families killed or have been killed themselves.
This episode reveals the extraordinary playbook employed by Israel to threaten, intimidate, smear and target Palestinian journalists.

Gaza City is a ghost town. Darkness, smoke, and shadows hang over it, illuminated only by the red glow of explosions. The city resembles scenes from apocalyptic films—stories of the end of the world, of human catastrophe, of global wars. Homes stand deserted, streets are emptied, and death encircles us from every direction.Every morning, new leaflets fall from the sky like snow, ordering us to leave and head south. Most residents ignore the leaflets. Some children collect them—not to read but to burn as fuel for cooking; to boil what little rice or lentils they may have. The irony is unbearable: the same papers that demand our departure now keep our small fires alive.

Snowflake addon = Tor relay? Oo
Fyi a snowflake proxy, is when your acting as a entrypoint via tor.
So if you lived in china and when the government restricts internet acess.
If you tried to connect to tor there great firewall would block all public tor entrypoints.
So a snowflake proxy is where a user, such as one who lives in china can enter the tor network via the snowflake proxy to where the 3 hops starts in the onion routing process. Which then anonimizes there traffic, also i believe in certain countrys, such as the US. If someone where to do something illegal via your tor node, you would not be liable because of safe harbor rules.
Which in overly simplified terms.
Is like facebook or snapchat, if a user posts something illegal facebook doesn't get in trouble for hosting it, as long as they follow take down requests they dont get in trouble.
FYI im NOT a lawer but this is what i heard
I'm also using Brave to check some stuff because all the aforementioned browsers break some canvas script and I use those for image effects in my site and I'm trying to fix the script so it works on hardened browsers.

The single biggest roadblock for casuals to use Linux
A friend was using a computer with Windows 8.1 (I know lol), and her streaming services stopped working on it. Because she was using an old computer, she couldn't upgrade to Windows 11. So I suggested installing Linux and even doing it for her, but the problem is that most streaming services don't work on Linux. After making that disclaimer and suggesting she use a streaming stick, she decided that her computer is junk and will just get a new one. A win for Microsoft.
But the crux is that if streaming services don't treat Linux as a first class platform, Linux will never be truly mainstream. People say that it's Microsoft Office or Adobe blocking Linux from the mainstream, but Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock, etc are the real missing "apps" on Linux.

What's the need for Tailscale in this mix?

Stop the Tailscale service on the server and see if the Roku sees it.

in reply to fleebleneeble • • •If this is just a local network, you don't need Tailscale. Right place and time, and this is not a use for it.
If you just want a VPN to attach to your network from out in the world, get Tailscale on your router, and set routes for that device.
If you're not sure what this means, don't use Tailscale.
Destide
in reply to fleebleneeble • • •To use tailscale you'd need to add every device you want to use to your tailscale machines list. It's not an anywhere any machine solution without that.
If you want something more like a proper web service that’s available without Tailscale, you’d need to spin up a reverse proxy or use Tailscale Funnel to expose Jellyfin to the public internet in a controlled way.
Tailscale won't affect local as you can access it via browser and phone, the service is running fine locally. Just check in jellyfin it's bound to the same IP subnet go to Dashboard → Networking and check that it’s set to 0.0.0.0 or your LAN IP (e.g., 192.168.0.xx).
