Got my Jellyfin up and running, using Tailscale, all that good stuff. Running on a linux (arch btw) desktop, downloaded it straight to it, not using Docker. I am able to get into Jellyfin via browser on desktop and on phone, but can't get into it on anything else anywhere else. How do I resolve this? I have been trying to pour over the reading and feel like I'm missing something.

Your Roku should be trying to connect to the internal IP:8096 (Jellyfin port) of your arch device, not whatever your tailscale address is. I don't personally use tailscale so if your setup blocks local access then you may need to solve that first

If you want something more like a proper web service that’s available without Tailscale, you’d need to spin up a reverse proxy or use Tailscale Funnel to expose Jellyfin to the public internet in a controlled way.
Tailscale won't affect local as you can access it via browser and phone, the service is running fine locally. Just check in jellyfin it's bound to the same IP subnet go to Dashboard → Networking and check that it’s set to 0.0.0.0 or your LAN IP (e.g., 192.168.0.xx).

Fyi a snowflake proxy, is when your acting as a entrypoint via tor.
So if you lived in china and when the government restricts internet acess.
If you tried to connect to tor there great firewall would block all public tor entrypoints.
So a snowflake proxy is where a user, such as one who lives in china can enter the tor network via the snowflake proxy to where the 3 hops starts in the onion routing process. Which then anonimizes there traffic, also i believe in certain countrys, such as the US. If someone where to do something illegal via your tor node, you would not be liable because of safe harbor rules.
Which in overly simplified terms. Is like facebook or snapchat, if a user posts something illegal facebook doesn't get in trouble for hosting it, as long as they follow take down requests they dont get in trouble.

No, I beleive that is just a snowflake proxy, which basically is just used when somebody first connects to the tor network to hook them up to an entrance node. So your computer is not actually acting as a node but rather an intermediary. I would also suggest not using Brave browser because I have heard bad things about it's owner and just their general policies. Many people say that brave browser is really just privacy cosplay. You can just get a copy of firefox and manually harden it yourself using noscript and a vpn. Or skip that and just use tor browser for all your privacy intensive stuff.
My main browser is LibreWolf and I have Mullvad for some other accs. I do however have old stuff that turned disposable now, and I decided to let these logged on Brave out of convenience (since to let accs logged on Mullvad or Tor you have to enable history and cookies and it defeats the purpose of those browsers 😛) I'm also using Brave to check some stuff because all the aforementioned browsers break some canvas script and I use those for image effects in my site and I'm trying to fix the script so it works on hardened browsers.

After making that disclaimer and suggesting she use a streaming stick, she decided that her computer is junk and will just get a new one. A win for Microsoft.
But the crux is that if streaming services don't treat Linux as a first class platform, Linux will never be truly mainstream. People say that it's Microsoft Office or Adobe blocking Linux from the mainstream, but Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, Peacock, etc are the real missing "apps" on Linux.
i don't use it myself so can't be sure but i find it hard to believe it wouldn't work on the latest ubuntu with google chrome.. it did work as of a few years ago.

For most of them you can get 720p on Linux with basic stereo audio.
It was possible to play Netflix 1080p on Chrome, but I think those days are gone.
Unfortunately, I don't see a user-controlled Linux system ever being properly supported in the current DRM / copyright paradigm. There isn't really a solution that satisfies the "rights holders", and even if there were, there is little to no incentive to implement it.

If it's 1080p+, how? If it's 720p, that's not really acceptable to most people.
I think the point of OP is that Streaming services don't care about Linux and downright gimps them, so the apps will "look better". Casual users won't know or care about the technical reasons.

The biggest roadblocks are the manual download and installation process of Linux, if we speak about casuals. I don't know how important streaming services are, but besides the usual office and adobe application, certain popular videogames are also a blocker for casuals switching to Linux.

You just needed to install Chrome, not leave the installation with Firefox. Chrome works with streaming services, except one (can't remember which one). All the other ones work.
Why so much downvotes. Streaming services doesn't provide higher quality streams on linux distros, it's common knowledge. Widevine L3 is supported by browser and that's what running when someone streams netflix, disney+ or anything on a browser, firefox or chrome, in linux. Almost all streaming services provide 720p with Widevine L3. On the other hand, 1080p and higher are only available in widevine L1, which has to built into the kernal and certified by Google. Nobody should it's working when the stream is 720p and even 480p sometimes.
And linux kernal WILL NOT BE DOING THAT. The OP doesn't even blame linux for this, they explicitly say to blame streaming services.
Streaming services suck in general if you ask me. Even on windows the apps are ass imo. As an ultrawide user i always hated that i can't zoom in on movies or shows to get rid of the black bars on the top and bottom and fullscreen it properly. I understand that that's a weird edge case but it's just one of the problems i had. With disney+ in particular, even on the windows app i couldn't stream in 4k. I figured i'd try watching on ps4, but the audio would have this weird clipping like once every minute, which wasn't an issue with the hardware, because it also happened on ps5 and with different headphones. I even went as far as buying an android tv box because i wanted to be a good boy and watch it legit, but that didn't work out either, cause the box started getting slow and it would randomly exit the app in the middle of watching a show. So in the end i gave up and started pirating. Their service was so awfull that i saw no other option, which is kind of insane when you think about it. And now i can watch it in my player of choice, and properly fullscreen it on my ultrawide display.

but then, even when it is working, linux clients often still get a lesser product as the streaming sites like to reserve higher quality video to clients with os-level drm, restricting linux to 720p or even 480p.
that's... just wrong. I converted my whole family after being sick of constantly dealing with their viruses and the only thing that didn't work was some game as a service garbage that the particular individual managed to grow out of anyway. all of them have streaming though. netflix only allows 4k on windows with new enough cpu or on smart tvs with up to date app but none of the others I tested did that at the time. If more do that now, none of my family have noticed the change.

Stop the Tailscale service on the server and see if the Roku sees it.

If you just want a VPN to attach to your network from out in the world, get Tailscale on your router, and set routes for that device.
