Eine orange Schlange, die sich selbst auffrisst, ziert das Cover des Buches "Der Allesfresser: Wie der Kapitalismus seine eigenen Grundlagen verschlingt" (2023) der Philosophin Nancy Fraser. Obwohl vom Menschen selbst etabliert, beschreibt Fraser den Kapitalismus als Fressorgie, "deren Hauptgericht wir selbst sind". Eine Zähmung dieses gefräßigen Untiers sei unmöglich, denn in unserem aktuell vorherrschenden Raubtierkapitalismus zähle nur das Recht des Stärkeren und der Wille des Kapitals, denn Geld sei Macht. Empathie wird outgesourct (Stichwort: unbezahlte Care-Arbeit) – schließlich bringt sie keinen Ertrag –, während für größtmögliche Rendite Natur und Mensch ausgebeutet werden. Das seien keine Nebenerscheinungen kapitalistischer Wirtschaft, sondern zentral für eine globale kapitalistische Gesellschaft. Die diesem System zugrundeliegende Dynamik stetigen Wachstums und einer Profitmaximierung um jeden Preis sei kannibalistisch. So resümiert Fraser zum Buchende: "Antikapitalismus könnte – und sollte – […] zum zentralen Leitmotiv eines neuen Common Sense werden."
Warum Kapitalismus systematisch ungerecht ist und gar eine Gefahr für unsere Demokratie darstellt, zeigt sich auch in den folgenden acht Gedanken zum Thema.
1. Demokratie gegen Bares
Deutschland ist eine Demokratie, steht zumindest so im Grundgesetz. Dass da aber einige Leute mit dicken Geldbündeln zwischen den Zeilen mitgeschrieben haben, wird gern überlesen. In einer Demokratie ist jede Stimme theoretisch gleichviel wert. In der Praxis aber lässt sich – mit genügend Kapital, versteht sich – Einfluss erkaufen. Das nennt sich in Deutschland dann nicht Korruption, sondern Lobbyismus. Klingt gleich viel seriöser. Kapitalist:innen, Großkonzerne und Interessengemeinschaften zahlen Millionen für Wahlkampagnen, schreiben Gesetze mit, drehen an Steuersätzen, organisieren diskrete Abendessen. Und wer sich all das nicht leisten kann? Tja, der darf alle vier Jahre ein Kreuzchen machen und dann hoffen, dass seine Interessen nicht unter einem Haufen Lobbybriefe begraben werden.
2. Arbeiten kostet richtig Geld
Wenn du acht Stunden schuftest, pendelst, schwitzt und dich durch Meetings quälst, landet ein massiver Prozentsatz deines Gehalts bei Staat und Krankenkasse – normal und unumgänglich, schließlich sollen Schulen und Kitas, Straßen und Fahrradwege (ob in Deutschland oder Peru) gebaut werden. Bist du aber Privatier, arbeitest überhaupt nicht und gönnst dir eine dicke Aktien-Rendite durch Dividenden oder Kurssteigerungen, gibst du pauschal nur 25 Prozent ab, mit kreativer Buchführung auch weniger. Angeblich ist das gut für den Wirtschaftsstandort Deutschland – aber nicht für seine Bürger:innen.

We all bitch about the sad state of software a lot, and we are right to do so. Most software is beyond terrible.
But let me tell you, things could be a LOT worse.
Imagine a world where all major software decisions were made by electrical engineers and companies that produce PLCs and whatnot.
Because you haven't seen truly awful until you have seen a conveyor system fail catastrophically because the deterministic DeviceNet network its PLCs relied upon was replaced with an encapsulation over non-deterministic, shared with the rest of thew company, Ethernet. I can all but guarantee that the EE who maintained the code won't adapt his code to compensate for the fact that his data might now arrive out of order until its starts to cost the company some real walkin' around money. When the machines start to make expensive sounds, he might bring his coding knowledge into the early 2000s.
I used to work for an ISP that was also an industrial integrator, and since I was the only person who spoke Perl, I was occasionally tapped by that side for some projects. I have seen some shit. Yes, Perl has a library for talking to ModBus, I used to use it a LOT. I also unfortunately know Wonderware, Ladder Logic and a few other awful, awful things I never wanted to know. I will never admit to any of it in a professional setting.
For those who don't know, Wonderware's slogan _should_ be, "Wonder where your data went?"
Oh, and I have come to the conclusion that over 90% of all internal IP networks for industrial control systems are on 100.100.100.0/24.
