NEW | The United States has taken over the coordination of humanitarian aid to Gaza from Israel, marking a major shift in how relief operations are managed under Trump’s so-called “peace plan.”
The new U.S.-led Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), based near Gaza, now oversees aid distribution. A move that sidelines Israel’s notorious COGAT unit, long accused of weaponizing humanitarian access.
While Washington presents the transition as a step toward efficiency, insiders describe chaos and confusion within the CMCC. Aid organizations say restrictions remain severe, with Israel still controlling crossings, blocking essential supplies, and using arbitrary “dual-use” rules to ban even medical and shelter items.
The U.S. has deployed drones and surveillance teams to monitor the situation, raising concerns over militarization of aid and continued violations of Gaza’s sovereignty. Despite the supposed ceasefire, Israel maintains illegal military presence inside Gaza, conducts intermittent airstrikes, and fires on civilians near the separation zones.
