A Single Haunting Note: The Franklin Tragedy
The only official record: a note found in a cairn on King William Island. It states the ships were trapped in ice from Sept. 1846 and Sir John Franklin died on June 11, 1847. In April 1848, 105 survivors abandoned the vessels to march south. None survived.
