Breaking | U.S. urges Israel to allow foreign journalists into Gaza amid ongoing media blackout
With a fragile “ceasefire” in place, the Trump administration has reportedly renewed its call for Israel to permit international journalists to enter the besieged Gaza Strip, The Times of Israel reports, citing two U.S. officials.
While U.S. President Donald Trump said in August he would “like to see” reporters granted access, officials admit the issue remains low on Washington’s list of priorities, suggesting Israel faces little actual pressure to lift its two-year media ban.
On October 23, Israel’s High Court gave the government 30 more days to justify the ban after the Foreign Press Association petitioned, saying it violates “the foundational principles of a democratic state.”
Meanwhile, Ynet reports that Israel is preparing “demonstration sites” east of the so-called yellow line for Israeli-escorted media tours, aiming to shape the narrative for visiting journalists.
A senior Israeli official confirmed that military and intelligence units are collecting selective material to justify the destruction across Gaza.
