diciamo che sono due cose diverse, i server dove viene hostata la parte web sono da una parte, quelli con i file dall'altra. E se ci pensi, al netto di una eventualità eccezionale come il lancio di GTA VI (che poi magari avrà un launcher e il gioco lo scaricherai dai server Rock*), un sistema come Steam con milioni di utenti che scaricano sempre qualcosa è sicuramente più carrozzato per gestire una caterva di download che non una caterva eccessiva di accessi allo store.
@Zel aggiungo poi che normalmente c'è anche un preload pianificato del gioco in uscita (per distribuire nel tempo il carico sui server), e leggevo da qualche parte che per silksong non c'è stato.
