It would be true to form if MAGA wanted to make polio great again simply because it's another reason (one of many) to hate Franklin D. Roosevelt for. FDR founded the March of Dimes specifically to fight polio. Just don't mention to any of them that it's FDR's image that remains on the dime.

There's an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode starring Brian Keith in an iron lung, and there's some nuances about doctor's directions on how best to use one, like taking some time out of the device to strengthen the rib cage muscles. It's Season 5 Episode 5, title "No Pain" and I've not been able to find an easy link to stream the thing without additional corporate guff. It's in Archive.org but not by itself, which added to the difficulty. I found the entirety of Season 5 on one page, discovered that it's selection 33 which ran Episode 5 (yeah, go figure), and THEN I got to the following link:
This is a really wonderful film about a man who lives in a iron lung who wants to have sex, lose his virginity. A sex therapist, played by Helen Hunt, is called in. This film is about that journey. Moving and funny, a great combo!

The film reconstructs the final, frantic phone call of Hind Rajab, who in January 2024 was trapped in the wreckage of a car in northern Gaza, surrounded by the bodies of her uncles and four young cousins.
Hiding beneath a seat and the only one still alive, Hind managed to contact the Palestinian Red Crescent by phone. However, the child and the medics looking for her were killed by Israeli forces.
