这么能推动剧情的美少女果然还是要继续登场的咯

in reply to Nicole Hennig

from what I see, the numbers appear to be totally made up without any justification whatsoever. Yet, it was accepted and published in a Nature journal section. Could someone explain to me how is this not paid advertising?

As an expert in AI ethics, I’m alarmed by the potential for these apps to radicalize vulnerable users in private. There was an interesting discussion in the SFWA discord and a tangential topic was men and reading.

So I’m curious. Men, of any age. Are you a reader?
I broke it down into
Avid - More than 20 books a year
Sometimes - Less than 20 a year
Don’t read - Self explanatory I hope.

Please share far and wide. 100% not scientific and feel free to reply with genres and any other color commentary you like in the replies.

in reply to Jeff Grigg

It always makes me sad to think that so many of my "professional" peers have "never read another book after college." I used to say "It's because I have all the books!" And I've generally had bookshelves full of books, both (mostly science) fiction, and non-fiction (mostly related to software development).

But I auctioned off my library (and sold my house and car) when I went "on the road" full time for work.

in reply to Jeff Grigg

@JeffGrigg my mother was a teacher, Swedish and Religion (we're Swedes). She read a lot, for pleasure it was mostly novels in English, a lot of crime. She thought it really, really strange that other language teachers (English, French, German) rarely read anything in those languages. At least one English teacher who did read some, would ask my mum for suggestions.
