El personaje de Blanka en Street Fighter, un hombre-bestia verde de la selva amazónica con poderes eléctricos, es uno de los luchadores más reconocibles del juego. Su historia de origen oficial es que, tras un accidente aéreo, creció en la jungla y su apariencia mutó debido a su dieta y un rayo.
Sin embargo, en el folclore brasileño existe la leyenda del Curupira, el guardián mítico de los bosques y los animales. El Curupira es descrito tradicionalmente como una criatura pequeña, de piel verde, con pelo rojo o de fuego, cuya característica más distintiva es que tiene los pies invertidos, mirando hacia atrás, para engañar y desorientar a cazadores y leñadores que intentan seguir sus huellas. También es conocido por emitir silbidos y gritos agudos.
La similitud es más que evidente, ambos provienen de Brasil, tienen el pelo rojo, así como el color verde y viven en los bosques, claro que en el caso de Blanka, no es precisamente de estatura baja, sino que más bien camina encorvado.
Aunque Capcom, la compañía desarrolladora del juego, no ha confirmado oficialmente esta conexión, la similitud entre la procedencia amazónica de Blanka y la leyenda del Curupira es un punto recurrente de especulación y análisis en la cultura popular, sugiriendo un posible punto de inspiración subconsciente o no reconocido en el diseño del personaje brasileño.

I am in disbelief that the only argument I'm seeing mobilized against age verification laws (and their accompanying social media bans) is “It sucks for privacy!”, and not “why the fuck are we okay imposing a digital jail on every single child?”
Digital privacy matters and it's an important reason why these laws must be repealed at all costs, but let's also please humanize the issue here: social media bans for minors are just another massive chapter in the conservative's playbook to deprive any social class that's not ‘adult white males’ of their bodily and existential autonomy.
That same playbook has chapters we're already familiar with, including staples such as “let's force gay kids back into the closet”, “trans kids shouldn’t be able to decide anything for themselves”, “women shouldn't have a bank account”, and “abortion should be illegal”.

Antes de cada combate de sumo, los luchadores (rikishi) arrojan puñados de sal al dohyō (el ring de arcilla). Esta práctica, que consume alrededor de 45 kilogramos de sal en un solo día de torneo, tiene un origen profundamente arraigado en la religión nativa de Japón, el sintoísmo.
En el sintoísmo, la sal se considera un elemento sagrado con el poder de alejar los malos espíritus, las energías negativas y las impurezas. El dohyō es tratado como un espacio sagrado, y cada combate se considera una ofrenda a los dioses (kami).
Al esparcir la sal, los luchadores purifican simbólicamente el área de combate, pidiendo la bendición de los dioses, asegurando la seguridad del lugar y, según la creencia popular, previniendo lesiones durante el enfrentamiento.
