We're currently seeking expressions of interest from aus.social members to join the mod team. There's no expectation to be available every day. We generally receive only a few reports every day, unless there's a wave of spam. New mods are provided basic training and ongoing support.

Moderation decisions are made by consensus, after discussing reports and using the Code of Conduct for guidance. Many reports related to spam. Other common reports (mostly involving off Instance accounts) include trolling, racism, transphobia, anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

Gemessen an der deutschen Wirtschaftskraft liegen die Sozialausgaben des Bundes nach offiziellen Angaben heute nicht höher als vor zehn Jahren. Laut Statistischem Bundesamt brachte der Bund 2024 einen Anteil von 5,53 Prozent des Bruttoinlandsprodukts (BIP) für soziale Sicherung auf - im Vergleich zu 5,64 Prozent im Jahr 2015. Auch im Jahr 2000 waren es 5,63 Prozent. Nur in Krisenjahren dazwischen gab es einige Ausreißer nach oben.

Today in Labor History September 4, 1970: Socialist Salvador Allende was elected President of Chile. As president, he tried to nationalize major industries, expand education and improve conditions for the working class. On September 11, 1973 (the other 9/11), he was ousted in a coup by Augusto Pinochet, leading to a dictatorship that lasted until 1990. Thousands of workers, socialists, union members and activists were killed, including folk singer Victor Jara, who continued to sing, as his torturers beat him up, mashed his fingers in front of thousands of other prisoners in the Estadio Chile. He sang “Venceremos” (We Shall Win) through split lips. Before being riddled with 40 bullets, he managed to compose the song “Estadio Chile” and get it smuggled out; "How hard it is to sing when I must sing of horror. / Horror which I am living, horror which I am dying." The coup and dictatorship were supported by the CIA, and by President Nixon, and by the Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, who later won the Nobel Peace Prize.

The #SUMUD, the largest flotilla so far sent to save Gazans from slow starvation will soon leave Barcelona with her 12 ships and is due to reach international waters 20 miles away from #Gaza mid-September.

The movement of dockers and theirs unions here vow that if they stay 20 minutes with no news from the flotilla, if for 20 mn contact is lost for whatever reason, they will immediately cease the work in Genova and in other Italian harbors.

Genova, it is every year 14.000 containers with Israelian ports for destination.
