I'm looking at picking up a cheap #bicycle (road bike, mountain bike, preferably something with a gear shift) but unsure where to start looking for a second hand one. Haven't bought one in my adult life, but they're really out of my price range when new.
Not even sure if I'll like biking, but I've gotta try something for an exercise activity and/or hobby.

If you have a local bike coop that's often the cheapest source of something that will be rideable right from the get-go. Many local bike shops also sell some used bikes, usually a bit more expensive. Craigslist still has some and most people will let you test ride around the block so you have some idea of if it fits and shifts/brakes ok enough. pinkbike.com might be out of your budget, mostly higher end stuff but it can be useful if you have really specific requirements.
Ah, you might be in luck then for local knowledge! @NefariousAryq lives there and bikes a lot. I'm sure his regular ride is fancy, but he probably knows where to buy what you're looking for!

Bis in die 1970er Jahre war es an Schulen der Bundesrepublik Deutschland noch gängige Praxis im Rahmen der Erziehung der Schülerinnen und Schüler zu Schlägen zu greifen. Auch das Recht auf Züchtigung durch die Eltern blieb lange bestehen, denn erst im November 2000 wurde der Grundsatz „Kinder haben ein Recht auf gewaltfreie Erziehung“ unter § 1631 (2) im Bürgerlichen Gesetzbuch (BGB) verankert.
