A2 Very little and very rarely. I use an iPad and an iPhone for checking pictures, looking up designs and taking pictures of my work (and chatting to you lovely people) but an actual computer only on the very rare occasions I want to print something out. I use the computer *all the time* for work so my making is my screen free time.

A2: They don’t. I don’t want them to either.
Unless you count trawling eBay for potential restoration projects (and other accoutrements and trinketry that I shouldn’t be buying). That’s pre-making though, not making-making.

Some involve some sort of design phase using CAD, some involve CAM (3d printing, laser cutting). Others once I've printed the drawings out the only computer involvement is the DRO on the machine tools... And the phone I use to take photos documenting it... And then the blog I write about my making...

Computers? What *don't* they feature in...
I am a computer nerd, have been for 3+ decades and much of my life revolves around the blighted things. I will spec out, type up words at least, as part of planning most things I do. I use 3D and 2D CAD for planning and can design my own stuff for 3D printing and CNC. Of course both those devices basically have computers in them, and talk to computers. I write code on a computer for the microcontroller (also a computer) electronics I build. I type this very message and take many many photos with the computer I am holding (aka a "phone")... photos are actually a key thing for me, my thinking and memory are very visual (yet U cannot actual draw freehand for shit.)

A2. For embroidery, a great deal, after discovering laser printable soluble self-adhesive transfer paper sheets. Monochrome natural history illustrations are a good pattern source, like the Valley Quail from Birds of Yosemite, cropped and resized from a scanned book illustration. For some projects, patterns via web shops or Etsy. For the pieced cloth ball projects, the square and hexagon templates for paper piecing at a specific size. For most projects, sharing update pictures to social media (Mastodon, very occasionally Facebook).

A2. Well, seeing as it's my job... a lot! Code is useful for all kinds of things. In the reverse direction, I learned CAD strictly for fun, and it ended up being useful at work, too. I got a HAM radio license just to have a structured way to learn more electronics, and that's been incredibly fun too.
I also deliberately do things that have no computers involved, like hand sewing and throwing pottery. It's kind of a both extremes situation, I guess.

I use a computer to view the online materials for a weekly watercolor class I take a few times a year; to join the online, real time paint-along class, to view reference photos, and to post to a group of fellow students—many of whom are “groupies” of the teacher, myself included
I also use tech (a tablet) to mark up the reference photos to help me approach the painting
