Trump Is Accusing Foes With Multiple Mortgages of Fraud. Records Show 3 of His Cabinet Members Have Them.

The White House has targeted opponents, including a Fed governor, for having more than one primary residence on their loan papers. ProPublica found that, in one case, a Trump cabinet secretary got two such mortgages in quick succession.

I'm back again. Yes, I'm looking for more book recommendations.
Can you name ONE (one only please) SF/F book, written between 1976-2000 (inclusive), that has absolutely blown your mind? Not just something you liked, or that was good, I'm looking for the absolute best books written in the last quarter of last century.

New, by me: GOP Cries Censorship Over Spam Filters That Work
The chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) last week sent a letter to Google's CEO demanding to know why Gmail was blocking messages from Republican senders while allegedly failing to block similar missives supporting Democrats. The letter followed media reports accusing Gmail of disproportionately flagging messages from the GOP fundraising platform WinRed and sending them to the spam folder. But according to experts who track daily spam volumes worldwide, WinRed's messages are getting blocked more because its methods of blasting email are increasingly way more spammy than that of ActBlue, the fundraising platform for Democrats.
If ActBlue isn't already what "spammy" looks like ...
I mean ... do WinRed messages just go full MyPillow?
That's alright. You don't need to show me.

Over "inhoud" gesproken:
Ik blijf me erover verbazen.
Het is godgeklaagd wat het publieke discours is geworden onder invloed van deze ramshTV.

I do like this UI and functionality, but as I looked in more detail, thinking about hosting the front end for myself, I noticed it was a fork of Soapbox.
I still don't quite know the history with Soapbox, but I do believe there is some bad blood with this application among fedizens.
So just be aware - it's not the primary Soapbox app or related devs, but it's based on that code.

"You can only vote if you pay taxes"
Let me just correct you there. Everyone pays taxes. If you buy anything from a registered business, you pay taxes. It is called VAT or value added tax.
So, unemployed people, seniors on pension, even children pay taxes.

Another tactic from the US 60s protests--strip naked and lock arms in maybe a twenty human circle. Preferably in the middle of an important intersection. Back then they coated themselves with soapy water, but we have silicon based sex lube now. Coat your body with it and make the cops pick up twenty full grown, very slippery humans at the same time.

in reply to tessarakt • • •@tessarakt going rigid is also done, but police have a habit of "accidentally" breaking parts on the people who do that. Floppy is safer, although cops occasionally push holds until the person screams (... because otherwise how would they know they'd reached the limit of motion of the joint?)
The main point is that cops will *always* complain about protesters.
They complain when we set fire to buildings, they complain when we queue politely to talk to our MP.

in reply to StarkRG • • •Then pretty much all courts are unreasonable, to you. Example: State v. Bay, 721 N.E.2d 421. You are legally required to follow a cop's lawful orders. Refusing to comply with lawful orders pursuant to an arrest, like "stand up," or "put your hands behind your back," is resisting. (I got trained on this exact point when acting as an observer attorney for an ACLU-sponsored protest.)

in reply to Professor_Stevens • • •@Professor_Stevens @StarkRG Not under German law. Resistance here requires an element of force. Too much body tension ("active blocking") is apparently sufficient for that.
But the German criminal statute actually contains the word "Gewalt" (violence). While this is construed very broadly here, the letter of the criminal law is still the outermost limit of statutory construction (because our constitution guarantees "no punishment without a law").
