in reply to dillyd • • •I saw a lot of this in socal, I figured it was bugs but was absolutely FASCINATED by the patterns, love your alt text ๐ glad I'm not the only one who had that thought - would make a good sci-fi story premise, "nature sending an encrypted message that we failed to decode" (but why was it encrypted? were they trying to warn us, or trying to keep a message to someone else, hidden FROM us? ๐ค )
I don't think I have a good pic, but one one hike I found a handheld-size portion of branch that had some of these patterns on it, kept it as a souvenir, still have it, just so frickin' cool ^_^
