We are going backwards due to increased RAM prices: 4 GB RAM default in mobile phones and 8 GB default in laptops. SSD prices are likely to go out of control as Samsung halts production. Don’t even ask about gaming console. Thank you sam altman and tech bros for ruining everything that is fun 😏

Finally figured out a better way to attach the blade on my blackberry thwacker version 2.5. drilled a hole all the way through and made a rivet out of a piece of 3/16" mild steel round stock. Feels much more secure.
For most Americans health expenses are uncapped.
This is by design; Americans can be pushed into destitution at any moment by requiring money for healthcare.
Meanwhile incomes are capped; and it is definitely your fault for not being a better worker.
Are you starting to see a pattern?

#DecRecs Day 1 - Let's start easy with some QTBIPOC books I enjoyed this year:
All This Could Be Different by Sarah Thankam Mathews - realistic fiction about a young Indian lesbian starting a suspicious consulting job and just trying to get over her shitty self while navigating family and friendship
Gods of Want by K-Ming Chang - excellent series of Taiwanese diasporic short stories full of intergenerational angst and ghosts that haunt us, be it from the margins or right up in our faces
Roar of the Lambs by Jamison Shea - yet another excellent YA novel starring a duo intertwined by events set forth in their families decades before, a Black seer who just wants to get to get out of this town and a mixed nonbinary teen who always stands up for what is right - both of whom only ever face doubt and distrust by others
Sister Snake by Amanda Lee Koe - an homage to chinese folklore brought into the modern lore, two sisters, both of whom can take forms of both human or snake, fall back into one another's lives. one raging in their chaos, another just trying to fit in.

#DecRecs Day 13 - Favorite Show of Recent Years
The Expanse - Adaptation of a book series, a ragtag team of folx find themselves heroes all look up to in the war between earth, mars, and the asteroid belt.
Fellow Travelers - Heads up, this one is very explicit. A man well positioned in politics must wrestle between protecting the one he loves and his own ability to survive, during the middle of the McCarthy era red scare and HIV/AIDS crisis.
Homebound 3.0 - What will these two Asian New Zealand do to satisfy honoring their family regarding their fake relationship?
The Good Bad Mother - A man has an accident that causes him to regress into a mental age of a 5 year old, leaving his estranged mother to contend with raising her child again while in a body of an adult.
The Cry - A child goes missing, but it's unclear what the circumstances are leading to it ... and why the parents seem to be covering it up despite reporting it
#DecRecs Day 14 - Software that makes couple stuff easier
- YNAB + Splitwise: YNAB pulls in our transactions and we have an automation to split shared expenses via splitwise allowing us to charge toward our budget categories easily.
- Twos: We can have shared to-do lists for things I need him to do, things we want to buy for the household, reminders of our prioritized gifts, or activities we'd like to try.
- Tody: Lets us split up chores either to one of us, both of us, or rotated between us. We can break chores or self-care reminders into different rooms/cadence/difficulty, and have a traffic light as tasks get more overdue to it's easier to visualize what needs to be prioritized. It can be handy for seeing whether the soap gets replaced more frequently than we estimate or taking a chore off someone's plate when things on their end are clogged up.

Hows your "input diet"?
I've probably eaten a little too much politics and tech hype in recent months. Back to tight curation.
> A smaller set of trusted sources. Fewer platforms. Slower rhythms. Long-form over live feeds. Reading with intention instead of grazing out of habit. Choosing inputs that compound rather than evaporate.
> ...clarity increases. Focus returns. Taste sharpens. You start noticing which ideas are actually yours.

Sometimes I am to tired to share, to overwhelmed to convey my thoughts, sometimes I could careless about what and how to say, day by day is there really anything to say, for if a thought was a star space would be filled, darkness would be abolished, light would fill eternity, if only a thought held the value to be, what value are these absurd thoughts of mine, for eyes don't see, ears wont hear, no pondering convention of these random thoughts of mine, I have no clue why I share at all, internal conversations that would confound and deafen all, to speak my mind seems like a silly rhyme, yet at times I have nothing to do but share my thoughts with all;

The role of the peasantry is serving these creeps.
They don't want people having fun.
They don't want people to have affordable access to information.
They don't want a literate & educated work force.
They see a comfortable life as a threat to the hateful "motivational" practices they're enacting.
Slaves shouldn't have a private life or time away from work, in their view.

Instead of having the joy of paying 500€ for some RAM modules once, the customer can now pay 100€ for RAM in a data center every month. Gaming is reduced to streaming, so instead of paying 80€ to Valve once, you can now pay 8€ everytime you play.

If software and websites are decently implemented you can go far with 8GB of RAM in your computer and do we really need a big quantity of RAM on phones who by design have very limited multitasking?
On the other hand I'm afraid that if this situation continues and worsens computing will become less and less accessible to people who aren't well off. One of the good things that happened in the last 40 years is that computing become accessible to basically everyone (at least in the West) and I'm scared that this push to AI will willingly or unwillingly ruin that.

I wonder if it is long enough to be worth someone building boards that take assorted slightly dated DIMMs
