Hmmmm... So, I find myself open to the concept of #ArtificialSilk grown in a lab (that is allegedly biodegradable and grown with natural elements). Perhaps I'm not totally averse to the concept of lab-grown meat. I mean, #StarTrek has replicators. Could this be the start of such things?

I was looking for body wash. I was asked what gender I wanted it to be. I don't know, I've never thought of my body wash having a gender. Does body wash also have a sex? Would it be cheaper to buy two, one of each, and let them procreate to keep getting more body wash? Oh, is this how travel size body wash is made?! It's just sold before it grows up! I get it now. Wait... is the clear body wash non-binary?!

Mikes unofficial back of napkin peace plan for Ukraine. Crimea and Donbas regions become their own states. Doesn't matter if their Russian puppets as long as they're not greater Russia. In return Ukraine gets instant membership to NATO and no limitations on ground force size. Also a permanent multinational NATO garrison stationed in Ukraine. I might also push for reperations.

With Boimler's actor's father *and* mother (though, according to Wikipedia, they didn't fall in love until their next movie together).

Here's an alt-text description of the image:

The image is a quote presented against a vibrant purple gradient background, transitioning from a deeper shade at the top to a lighter hue towards the bottom. The quote is divided into four lines, each contained within a rectangular white text box with a dark blue border. The text is written in a bold, sans-serif typeface. The quote reads: "The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn." Beneath the quote, in a cursive white font, is the name “Alwin Toffler”. The overall design is minimalist, with the focus solely on the text and its author.

Tolz' version of Horus, the God of the Sky and Kingship has reared his beaky head once more! You might feel inclined to give an offering or two before the Sky-King himself. That's all okay of course. Horus is used to reveal all kinds of divine dispensations,so don't be shy~

Deutche Wella gets it. I’m very happy to see that the German public broadcaster understands money creation in the modern economy, but also understands something of the goals of project 2025.

They never mentioned Silicon Valley, but I guess for any organization that’s very much on the front line of information they haven’t internalized yet.

The trick with all the stable coins is whether or not they actually are backed by US treasuries, and I think the billions of dollars that are defrauded from holders of stable coins is going to force the people who don’t want oversight to experience what happens when nobody trusts the instrument you are issuing.

it’s in the nature of these things that they are perfectly sensible right up to the millisecond you try and cash them out 😃
in reply to GhostOnTheHalfShell

not all stablecoins are backed by treasuries etc. the 2nd biggest one that is so backed (Circle USDC, ~$60bn mkt cap) has been audited and has the money. tether is the $185bn stablecoin that refuses to be audited, so yeah that's the important question. also other "fiat backed" stablecoins like FDUSD (used on binance) and TrueUSD/TUSD (justin sun) were "backed" but not with assets nearly as good as US treasuries.

there's a few broad categories of stablecoins:

1. "fiat backed" (Tether USDT, Circle USDC, TUSD, FDUSD, etc)

2. "crypto backed" (meaning they hold the backing for the token in bitcoin or ethereum - what could go wrong? some single digit billion dollar stablecoins are backed like this, the biggest of which is Sky FKA MakerDAO DAI)

3. "backed by complex financial instruments and trading positions" (another "what could go wrong?
" case... this is a newish category but USDe, run by recently pardoned Arthur Hayes + BitMEX, is close to $10bn mkt cap)

4. "algorithmic" (backed by hopes and dreams. this category kind of went away after the $40 bn terra/luna implosion, but it's making a comeback with Justin Sun's USDD)

In option two, what does it mean when bitcoin slides in value like I think it did recently and I don’t know if it’s recovered.
in reply to GhostOnTheHalfShell

there's a large cushion and deleveraging mechanism that's supposed to protect the $1 peg, but if the price were to slide too much too quickly, this is roughly what would happen:

I wish throwing $10 at my favorite authors was enough for them to afford to focus on writing and get their next book out faster. 😞

If I am ever so fortunate as to become fucking rich, maybe I can do what rich people used to do and just pay artists to keep making their art and not worry about having to pay for a silly things like rent and food.

The world would be a better place if rich people re-embraced that old tradition.

They’re like “oh Michelangelo was amazing. “ but he could have never done what he did without rich patrons and they’re not willing to put up the money to sponsor the next one.

in reply to masukomi

unless it's their own kids 👀 in many fields of the arts, it's nepotism and money that allow the unpaid internships, expensive training, and specialized equipment that allows them to have that career. That cushy trust fund paying for a Manhattan apartment while they "get started..."

They don't care about the quality of the art or artist, just feeding fame to their children to keep their "legacy" going.
