Just completed my 21st event of the year as an art vendor, having moved here to Humboldt County in northern California eight months ago.
i’m deep tired.
But I’m proud that I did it. From shifting my career away from academia toward freelance art, I found a home that would encourage me and events where I could find my people. I started making work that was of interest to the people of my region, and learned a whole lot about what they wanted and needed.
These events have been exhausting and validating at the same time. I couldn’t have asked for a softer landing after choosing to relocate to a new home with no safety cushion, no acquaintances, and no orientation to the area. It was the most terrifying leap of faith I’d ever done. And it is slowly paying off—maybe not in money but in community networking and encouragement.
So I’m tired now. I’m going to pick up the pieces this next week and assess what comes next. Tonight, however, I am indulging in an adult beverage and a warm yummy comfort-food dinner or cheesy hamburger rice. And a good audiobook I’m enjoying.
Whew. Big time exhale.

Shot exactly two years ago and finally developed last week. I love the havoc of colors that come from light leaks. You get double the fun on self-loaded film since you can catch something funky at the beginning and the end of the roll since I use a daylight loader. This was shot on Vision3 500 Tungsten-light balanced film without a warming filter on a very cool/gloomy day so the burst of warm color was a nice surprise.

For a long time, I have been getting legitimate emails from Comcast/Xfinity telling me that they tried to text me, but couldn't reach me, and would I please verify my mobile phone number.
I have my mobile service with Xfinity Mobile, and I do get texts from them.
It finally occurred to me to look up what number they use to originate SMS messages, which they wisely provide. I checked my blocked contacts list, and sure enough, 2 were blocked.
And of course, they send alerts from many different numbers, so I apparently have been getting some alerts, but not others.
Hopefully, that's fixed now, but if I added them to my blocklist, there's probably a good reason for that, like too many promotional texts on a channel that ought to only be used for legitimate customer account business.
We'll see if the emails stop and the texts are annoying.
I just looked up all of those, none of them lasted particularly long. But it's notable that they were all very local.
So what, in particular, are you thinking about them? 🤔
I guess the problem is internationalisation.
US has more potential users. And a lot of people / artists don't want to have multiple networks to post to and maintain.
So they use the bigger one and fans create accounts there to follow them and after a critical mass is reached, they give up the accounts on the local networks.
Also IMHO Farmville really made a big plus for Facebook at that time!

There's very little point using Mastodon as your fediverse server if you don't. It's a heavy beast for just hosting one account, and there are many lighter options, like GoToSocial or Akkoma;

Most of the developers have moved on. Tilde Friends is still being developed, and in F-Droid, but I can't make head nor tail of the interface.

I presumed wrong, #MeaCulpa;
"Not really removed, but instead moved to the repository of archived apps, as it is no longer being updated. This happens to all apps that have not seen a new version release in a long time. You can still download it by enabling the “Archive” repository in the F-Droid client ..."
