Unfortunately it's also really accessible (for Aotearoa) and folks can get in wayyyyyyyyyy deep really fast. A mate was telling me that a couple of the best kayakers in Queenstown (and frankly the planet) got up Mount Aspiring without crampons, one axe between them and a throwbag🤣🤣😬 The rank and file aren't so lucky/talented.
