Illuminated by an ultraviolet light, scorpions actually glow a spectacular bright green due to fluorescent compounds in their exoskeleton - a biological trait that is still not fully understood. I took a UV light out into the desert to capture a scorpion underneath the Milky Way core and scorpius constellation, and I managed to get it!
Scorpius is one of the oldest recognized constellations, recorded by ancient civilizations including the Greeks, who associated it with the myth of Orion. Its brightest star, Antares (circled) is 700 times larger than the sun and is a red supergiant often called the “heart of the scorpion”. The constellation’s curved tail really stands out when you are looking for it in the sky.

But I guess it's a good example, as we've recently seen waves of mutual aid spam: this is definitely being exploited, even though the payment is not direct. So with direct payment it will probably be worse.
What I prefer is when artists have a link to their website in their profile or in their posts, where I can go if I want to buy things from them.

The Internet takes money to run. There's a limit to how much we can pretend that those running a service or server can just absorb the cost of running or creating something (or needing to eat the cost of expanding to meet demand).
The goal shouldn't be pretending monetization isn't necessary, but to create a way of monetizing unobtrusively that supports the hosts and creators as directly and fairly as possible without runaway capitalistic incentives.

Like, maybe this could increase the amount of trash/slob on pixelfed that was put there 100% just to get monetary profits?
And could that spawn botnets that "like & repost" that kind of material, to get more people to see it == more moneys?
Did you consider these kinds of potential hazards, @pixelfed ; has there been enough internal and community debate about this?
Are you sure you aren't naively adding something without giving it enough thought?

Ultimately there is no privacy respecting way to make payments online right now (except some cryptos & maybe gnu Taler) so how does KYC and other legal requirements work with webmonetization ? I found nothing about it in their doc
