Wie Fediverse-Reactions und Avatare in WordPress zusammenhängen
Einen Punkt habe ich in meinem vorigen Beitrag über Folgefragen nach dem Verbinden eines WordPress-Blogs mit dem Fediverse noch nicht behandelt: Die Abhängigkeit der Anzeige der Fediverse-Reactions von den generellen Avatar-Einstellungen in WordPress. Das ist auch ein bisschen komplexer und damit einen eigenen Beitrag wert:
Gravatar und Datenschutz
WordPress holt sich standardmäßig die Avatare zu normalen Kommentaren von gravatar.com. Hat dort jemand keinen Avatar eingerichtet, erscheint stattdessen in WordPress-Kommentaren der Platzhalter, den man unter Einstellungen > Diskussion definiert hat.
Da das mit gravatar.com nicht datenschutzfreundlich ist, wird dazu geraten, ein Plugin wie Avatar Privacy zu verwenden. Oder Avatare an oben genannter Stelle einfach ganz zu deaktivieren.
Überall zulassen oder gar keine?
Wer Avatare komplett abschaltet, ist dann zwar das Datenschutzproblem in WordPress los, bekommt aber Folgeprobleme:
- Der zum Beitrag gehörige Autorenavatar wird auch nicht mehr angezeigt
- Fediverse-Reactions werden nicht angezeigt
Das Problem mit dem Autorenavatar lässt sich beheben, indem ich ein Plugin wie One User Avatar benutze. Damit kann ich für jedes Benutzerprofil einen lokalen Avatar hochladen.
Das Problem mit den Fediverse-Reactions behebt das aber nicht.
Alles gut, dank Blockthemes
Um die Fediverse-Reactions anzeigen zu können, müssen Avatare also erlaubt sein. Da man mit den o.g. Plugins dafür nicht weiterkommt, bleibt nur eins und das geht dank Blockthemes kinderleicht: den Platzhalter für Avatare aus dem Kommentartemplate komplett entfernen! Hier also nochmal die Konstellation, wie ich sie hier verwende:
- Avatare in WordPress-Einstellungen unter Diskussion zulassen, damit Fediverse-Reaktionen und Autorenavatare dargestellt werden können
- One User Avatar installieren, um Autorenavatare darstellen zu können, ohne das zu Gravatar gefunkt wird
- Platzhalter für Kommentar-Avatare löschen (oder Avatar Privacy installieren), um zu verhindern, dass für Kommentar-Avatare zu Gravatar gefunkt wird.

An early example of creating vector layers via Python scripting in #GIMP. In addition to giving access to plug-in developers, we'll eventually use this to load SVGs as vectors (and load vector layers from formats that support them like PSD and PSP)!
There's still a lot of work to be done, both in the public API and internally, but progress continues.

À partir d'une capture d'écran, j'ai créé le modèle à broder, en mettant son nom dans la barre de titre, sa date et son poids de naissance. J'ai mis plusieurs mois à le réaliser, et il est né quelques semaines avant que j'arrive à le terminer, ce qui tombe bien parce que je devait de toute façon attendre la naissance pour les informations de dernière minute.

For those 2. My long term plan is to move the Disintermedia blog to a community-hosted service (Ghost is a favourite but I'm still evaluating options).
When it comes time, I'll try to write a bash script that goes through the most complete archive of the CoActivate version, copies each post into the new one. Bonus extra; change each timestamp so it's correct according to the original publication date. Double bonus: do the same for the SubStack version.
