Confidential Computing with OpenBSD -- The Next Step by Hans-Jörg Höxer
Confidential computing is a family of techniques to enhance security and confidentiality for data in use. One technical approach is strong isolation for virtual machines.
AMDs Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) offers several feature sets for isolation of guest virtual machines from an non-trusted host hypervisor and operating system. These feature sets include memory encryption, encryption of guest state including CPU registers and an attestation framework.
With OpenBSD 7.6 released in October 2024 we are now able to use the memory encryption features of AMD SEV to run OpenBSD as both
a confidential guest VM and
as a hypervisor providing a confidential execution environment.
Now, thanks to memory encryption the hypervisor is not able to peek into a guests memory and is not able to retrieve sensitive information. However, the state of the CPU registers used by the guest is still visible to the hypervisor.
Therefore, we implemented support of AMDs "Secure Encrypted Virtualization with State Encryption" (SEV-ES) for OpenBSD guests and hypervisor. With SEV-ES all CPU guest state is encrypted and hidden from the hypervisor.
In this talk we will explain the fundamentals of SEV and SEV-ES. Then we explore the challenges imposed by SEV-ES for both guest and hypervisor. Finally we will take a closer look into selected implementation details.
Hans-Jörg Höxer is employed at genua, a German firewall manufacturer, who is using OpenBSD as a secure and stable base for its products.

Automated and Distributed Testing Using TTCN-3 by Hiroki Sato
Testing an operating system is not easy. FreeBSD project uses Kyua testing framework and has continuously made efforts to add more test cases. They are mostly written in shell scripts or some lightweight programming languages. Writing and maintaining complex test cases is still challenging.
This talk introduces TTCN-3, Testing and Test Control Notation version 3. This is a domain-specific language designed for automated testing and is widely used in telecommunicating systems as an ETSI industry standard. While the primary target is conformance testing of communication protocols, it is also helpful to write complex test cases for operating system testing that cannot be covered by shell scripting.
Eclipse Titan is a TTCN-3 toolchain that Ericsson internally developed and Eclipse Foundation now maintains under Eclipse Public License 2.0. It translates test cases in TTCN-3 to a C++ program, and it generates a single binary without annoying library dependency to perform testing. The toolchain runs on *BSD or other Unix-like systems with GCC, and includes powerful orchestrating controller and logging capability. This project also maintains production-quality test case implementations for various protocols we can reuse.
The talk will cover how to get started with Eclipse Titan on FreeBSD, and how to write test cases of networking and multiple nodes. It includes examples such as a simple string matching of messages over STDIN/STDOUT, a simple request/response packet exchange over IP, and more complex scenarios that show both the upside and downside of using TTCN-3.
Speaker Biography: Hiroki Sato is an assistant professor at Institute of Science Tokyo. He is one of the FreeBSD core team members and has been a FreeBSD committer since 2001.

While Nitrocid 0.1.0 brought a truckload of features and improvements, we felt that, even after we spent a year and a half on working on this version, those changes weren’t enough. Nitrocid 0.2.0 and future major versions aim to change this by introducing even more changes and enhancements. The tech preview of v0.2.0 encourages you to try out the technical aspect of the future version of Nitrocid.
Nitrocid 0.2.0 will only go through one release candidate before the official release so that we can gather feedback about the new features and enhancements we’ve introduced in this version. Ja, jedenfalls im Rahmen den ich möchte, und ich möchte meine Zeit hier reduzieren. Wochentags habe ich meine Angestellten ganz schön vernachlässigt und das Miteinander in der Praxis schleifen lassen.
Ich werde euch alle lesen und besternen, aber nicht mehr so aktiv sein wie vor der Pause.
Die sozialen Medien sind doch ein ganz schöner Timesink, aber wem sage ich das. Und für dauerhafte Zeitverschwendung, bzw. –vertreib habe ich zu wenig davon. Außerdem mag ich mein RL sehr und ich möchte noch sooo viel tun und erleben.
Tja, was habe ich dann eigentlich hier gesucht? Eine gute Frage auf die ich keine Antwort habe. Wie viele wissen, war ich zuvor nicht in anderen sozialen Medien wie Facebook oder Twitter unterwegs. Ich war einfach neugierig da das Prinzip des Fediverse mich obendrein ansprach.
Habe ich denn etwas hier gefunden? Hm, wenig. Wenig bis gar keinen Austausch mit „gleichgesinnten“ – Gyn, Lesbe, Interesse an ähnlichen kulturellen oder gesellschaftlichen Dingen.
Was ich gefunden habe sind unglaublich liebenswerte, offene und schön verrückte Menschen. Alle so unterschiedlich und doch so sehr das Herz auf dem rechten Fleck. Wunderschön. Alle meine Besternungen kommen von Herzen und sind nie im Vorbeigehen mal dahingeworfen.
Ich fand auch jede Menge Beleidigungen, Affronts und Anmaßungen. Mein Blockfinger sollte schneller sein, aber das Kind ist ja dann schon in den Brunnen gefallen und die Äußerungen sind getätigt. Ich halte so etwas aus. Mein ganzes Leben lang halte ich schon so etwas aus und ich habe einen Arsch voll Selbstbewusstsein. Heutzutage bin aber in einer Position, in der ich mir gar nichts mehr bieten lassen muss – Punkt.
Ich bin also wieder da, nur etwas weniger.

According to this NYT article, trump's 50% tariffs against India are because of trump's personal rift with PM Modi - Modi will not give him credit for the ceasefire with Pakistan and Modi will not nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize - things trump demanded during a phone call on Jun 17. The punitive tariffs are not part of any cohesive effort to reduce the trade deficit or cut off funding for Mr. Putin’s war.

Note that Russia exports crude oil and other products to many other countries besides India - none have these countries have been slapped with trump's tariffs simply because they buy stuff from Russia.
China, the biggest importer of Russian crude, has been spared.

Queste foto me le ha fatte una persona che è stata manipolativa nei miei confronti per mesi/anni e che fa stare malissimo una mia amica ma mi ci riconosco tantissimo, e non è la prima volta che penso "sono proprio io!" riguardo a ritratti fattimi da qualcuno che mi stava lovebombando o circuendo emotivamente.
