Case in point: for years, anything with too much text was mocked as โbad UX.โ Then ChatGPT came along, gave you a blinking cursor and a boxโand suddenly walls of text are the peak of interface design. Nothing changed except what people got used to.
Or take macOS. People trip over themselves to praise Appleโs โcleanโ UI. But whatโs actually clean about it? Why does closing every window not quit the app? Thatโs not intuitive. Itโs just something Mac users were conditioned into defending. If Windows did the same thing, thereโd be YouTube essays about it.
Same goes for games. The arrow keys used to be the standard for movement. Now, if your game doesnโt use WASD, youโll get roasted on Steam. Not because WASD is inherently betterโitโs just what everyone expects.
The dirty truth is this: UI isnโt about usability. Itโs about conformity. Interfaces donโt necessarily become โgoodโ when they solve problemsโthey become good when people stop complaining.

The excess spec of the toroid made the 7x05/7x12 type regulators a lot hotter than before. Aside recapping and resoldering all PSU PCBs (done), there had to be a better solution one of those days.
