The Delhi High Court ordered the blocking of Sci-Hub, Sci-Net, and LibGen in India on August 19, 2025, following a copyright infringement case brought by academic publishers Elsevier, Wiley, and the American Chemical Society¹².

The court found that Alexandra Elbakyan, Sci-Hub's founder, violated her December 2020 undertaking not to upload new copyrighted content by making post-2022 articles available through both Sci-Hub and a new platform called Sci-Net². While Elbakyan claimed this was due to technical errors and argued Sci-Net was a separate project, the court rejected these arguments².

The ruling requires India's Department of Telecommunications and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to issue blocking orders within 72 hours, with Internet Service Providers required to implement the blocks within 24 hours².

This case marks the first time Sci-Hub and LibGen faced legal action in a developing country³. Earlier intervention attempts by Indian scientists and researchers had argued these platforms were "the only access to educational and research materials" for many academics in India³, with social science researchers specifically highlighting the "detrimental effect" blocking would have on research in India⁴.

A group of social science researchers have filed an intervention application, with legal support from IFF, highlighting the adverse impact any decision to block LibGen and SciHub will have on them.

Una gentile lettrice invia la fotografia di una luna dal colore molto rosso, apparsa pochi anni fa sopra Bordighera, immagine, a quanto pare, pubblicata in qualche derivazione di questo blog. La signora lo ha fatto in costanza della variabile presenza negli orari - di tragitti e di tinta (bianco, giallo, rame) - nei primi giorni di agosto dell'acclamato satellite, perché la pregressa immagine rappresenta forse un unicum. In ogni caso, è stato uno spettacolo ammirare circa un mese fa - come molte persone hanno fatto, non risparmiando pertinenti scatti - i migliori aspetti della luna in punti differenti e in momenti diversi della sera e della notte. Eppure, sembra irripetibile una certa scena di un anno fa, quando gli arabeschi disegnati da Selene, stelle, luci di barche sul mare (e qualche occasionale segnale di un aereoplano) sembravano invero originali. Senonché, proprio l'altro giorno ed ancora ieri, chi da queste parti avesse alzato gli occhi all'aperto avrebbe potuto scorgere una luna crescente pennellata di oro infuocato, quando per un passaggio più lungo intorno alla 23, quando per un passaggio più breve un po' più tardi, ma sempre sotto l'incombere di nuvole che avranno pure condizionato il fenomeno.

E si metta nel contesto, sia pure "fuori sacco", il grandioso arcobaleno apparso poco fa in direzione Francia a sovrastare l'intera zona intemelia!

Ogni tanto qualcuno saluta ancora per strada Salvatore con il nomignolo "Acapulco", a lui affibbiato non si sa più se per ammirazione o per ironia - comunque, con un richiamo alla nota località del Messico, dove, come visto in alcune pellicole, le altezze per tali prodezze sono senza paragone ben maggiori - quando si esibiva in plastici tuffi dagli scogli di Sant'Ampelio di Bordighera, quelli tanto amati dallo scrittore, poeta ed artista Guido Seborga.

Più facile notare adesso, specie nella brutta stagione, gite romantiche in quel sito molto caro agli abitanti della città delle palme.

Per non ricorrere all'espressione forse in oggi non molto corretta "i vecchi definivano" si userà la perifrasi "molte persone una volta chiamavano gobba del cammello" - quando, invece, il paragone sarebbe stato più giusto con il dromedario - un punto preciso della Costa Azzurra molto visibile dall'estremo ponente ligure, che per molti sedentari è sempre stato l'orlo occidentale della catena dell'Esterel, che da alcuni velisti non è mai stato preso in considerazione e che, in genere, non viene ormai più neanche notato: secondo un diligente fotografo amatoriale ed escursionista nostrano si tratta di una altura nelle vicinanze di sud-est di Frejus.
