Before I tell this story, I want to point out that I can be incredibly childish. I know this about myself.
Anyway, I was raised to believe that it is manly to own up to your mistakes.
Conservative Christians (and thus, most Republicans) believe that it is unmanly to admit when you are wrong.
So when you present evidence that they were wrong about something, they could just admit that they were wrong and make the topic go away, but instead they throw tantrums like spoiled toddlers…

I think the endgame is to turn the new ICE camps into plantations where the overwhelming majority of the population can be imprisoned and used as slave labor. The precedents have already been established: the illegalization of homelessness, and forcing the homeless into prison camps. Combine that with privatized prisons that require mandatory labor, and you have America as one vast slave empire ruled over by a tiny elite.
