I never entered the Apple ecosystem, I abandoned Adobe a long time ago, and I'm migrating to Linux before the end of support for Win10.

I don;t use any of the above and so cannot abandon them.

I could have checked Android/Google if it was an option. I don;t feel like I own my phone. I paid for the H/W but don;t control the S/W. (Using Linux on my PCs.)

I guess I have to put Microsoft since that's the one I literally just did finally abandon. I'd held on since the 90s as a gamer since the general policy of any dev who you ask for help is "we don't support linux *closes issue without further discussion*" but Microsoft is becoming actually actively dangerous and harmful to its users (which is why it scares me that so many are just tolerating it instead of getting rid of them.)

I can't select Apple because at least I've always been able to choose not to use their products and always did find better alternatives for cheaper and Adobe too had pretty good alternatives (I miss PaintShop Pro before Corel ruined it 😭 ) but Windows I just had to hold onto.

Linux isn't perfect, but it's 100% worth it to ditch MS.

I've not used any of them for 20+ years and have never used Apple per say.

Abandoned Microsoft completely with my departure from Windows XP. Flirted with SuSE Linux for a while and then Ubuntu 4.10, "Warty Warthog".

last product on the list on a family members desktop is adobe digital editions (the library standard over here, sadly...)

and while you can dedrm, thats not the plan here, i want her to be able to lend the books and just read them on her devices.

don't use anything adobe, don't use anything Microsoft, and while I do have a m1 Mac mini, I got it cheap to toy with macos. I honestly don't do much else with it.

If anything, I would love to abandon discord permanently. But sadly I got to many friends and family that still use that stupid platform for chatting and sharing information. Even though it has become an ad ridden nitro+ demanding hell app.

Oddly, Brother iPrint&Scan was the last personal desktop app I had to replace. Once I figured out my scanner wasn't working on Linux because of firewall settings, I was finally free.

I still make use of Outlook, Teams, and Office for work. I hang on to Office because the accessibility features are better than @libreoffice. The read aloud ability in Office is scary good at reading math. Most my students are gen. ed., so I can't just hand them #LaTeX code.

all of them actually. I'm fed up with big tech. Paying more money every year just to get your hardware destroyed by a vibe-coded update is ludicrous... I don't need the next "AI" scam that steals from artists and coders, I need software that actually works. And I don't need a 2000€ phone that is 1mm thin (except at the huge camera) that slips out of my hand and has a 5h battery life. (We're getting there, it's just a matter of time and greed...)
