I was at a conference today and I was chatting with some mature industry colleagues. I lamented how young people don't understand constraints like we did.
Now when you make an inefficient decision you just get a bigger bill, and as a developer you might not even see the bill. But in the past an inefficient software design and your app wouldn't run.
I strongly feel that the lack of appreciation for how hosting actually works is why people hand over buckets of money to Tier 1 hosts. People think servers, networks and even managing runtimes are 'icky'.

I would put it differently:
Science is not settled, because it is moving forward.
That doesn't mean that science doesn't constrain the possibilities.
Science does exactly that: It checks off things that are to improbable to be worth considering, ever narrowing the scope of possible true answers.
