Il Senato degli Stati Uniti ha votato martedì per annullare i dazi imposti dal presidente Trump sul Brasile, con cinque senatori repubblicani che si sono schierati al fianco dei democratici. La risoluzione è passata con 52 voti favorevoli e 48 contrari, rappresentando una critica simbolica alla politica commerciale dell'amministrazione Trump. Tuttavia, il provvedimento non avrà seguito concreto: il presidente della Camera Mike Johnson, repubblicano della Louisiana, ha già fatto sapere che non porterà la misura al voto nell'altro ramo del Congresso, e in ogni caso Trump non la firmerebbe mai trasformandola in legge.
L'iniziativa legislativa è stata guidata dal senatore democratico Tim Kaine della Virginia. A votare a favore dell'abolizione dei dazi brasiliani sono stati tutti i senatori democratici insieme a cinque repubblicani: Lisa Murkowski dell'Alaska, Susan Collins del Maine, Mitch McConnell del Kentucky, Rand Paul del Kentucky e Thom Tillis del North Carolina. Si tratta di senatori che in passato hanno già mostrato una certa indipendenza rispetto alla linea del presidente su questioni commerciali.
Questa è la terza volta che i democratici forzano una votazione su risoluzioni volte a cancellare i dazi imposti da Trump, e finora è quella che ha ottenuto il maggior numero di voti repubblicani. Ad aprile il Senato aveva già votato per abrogare i dazi del presidente sul Canada, con il sostegno degli stessi Murkowski, Collins, Paul e McConnell. Un altro tentativo dello stesso mese, mirato a eliminare i dazi generalizzati del 10 percento su tutte le importazioni, era invece fallito, con McConnell che in quell'occasione non aveva votato.
Nonostante il voto favorevole del Senato rappresenti un segnale di dissenso bipartisan sulla politica dei dazi, la sua natura rimane puramente simbolica. Senza il voto della Camera dei Rappresentanti, controllata dai repubblicani, e senza la firma presidenziale, i dazi sul Brasile rimarranno in vigore. Il risultato evidenzia comunque le divisioni interne al partito repubblicano sulla strategia commerciale dell'amministrazione, con alcuni senatori disposti a prendere pubblicamente le distanze dal presidente su questo tema.

Something has possessed me over the last 24 hours and I've been furiously building my own little stack-based virtual machine that displays Apple II / commodore-style graphics. Think green on black. Think visicalc or the text-based Oregon trail.
I've got 2/3 of the planned opcodes and a basic rendering setup. It's complete garbage compared to the elegant way uxn does everything, but it's MY garbage.
I'll post more once here shortly.

Praticamente la stessa cosa che ha fatto Reddit. Ma c'è una cosa che mi fa talmente paura. Non solo traduce tutte le cose automaticamente alla mia lingua, che sia inglese o italiano, ma mi capiterà più facilmente di incapparmi a dei post e video di altre lingue camuffate da italiano/inglese.
Chi ha ideato questo schifo con le traduzioni IA automatiche dev'essere condannato all'esilio.
Chi pensa che "aiuterebbe a sistemare il problema di chi non può usufruire i contenuti nella loro lingua" non ha idea che sta facendo ridurre le possibilità che uno debba imparare a studiare una lingua.

Le stampellate dell’alba 🩺
Siamo negli anni “milanesi” — dal 2005 al 2015, periodo in cui lavoravo a Milano.
La mia dottoressa mi aveva prescritto degli esami del sangue. Tutto normale, no? La struttura apriva alle 7 del mattino, quindi nella mia testa avevo già pianificato tutto: prelievo entro le 7:30, colazione con calma, e poi al lavoro.
Sì, come no… belle le favole! 😅
La realtà, invece, è stata un tantino più… movimentata.
Arrivo di buon’ora, e cosa vedono i miei occhi? Una zuffa tra vecchietti, con stampelle brandite come lance e spade! 🤺
Scene da film: urla, insulti, e un campo di battaglia che manco Braveheart.
In mezzo a questo delirio, una guardia — con l’aria di chi ne ha viste troppe — incrocia il mio sguardo allibito e mi dice:
- “Ogni giorno la stessa storia! Non hanno niente da fare a casa, arrivano alle sei, protestano perché non apriamo prima… e poi si picchiano fra di loro a suon di stampellate!”
Poi, con la calma rassegnata di chi conosce il proprio destino, aggiunge:
- “Le consiglio di tornare più tardi, non prima delle dieci e mezza.”
E così feci.
Quando tornai, i vecchietti si erano dileguati (o forse erano stati arrestati per uso improprio di stampella!) e io entrai dritta, senza attese.
Morale della favola:
Chi ha tempo lo usi bene… e magari eviti di stampellare il prossimo! 😄
