Al Qassam Announces Martyrdom of Leader Raed Saad
Al-Qassam leader Raed Saad, Commander of the Gaza Brigade and Deputy Chief of Staff of Al-Qassam (the second in command), one of the most prominent resistance figures, ascended to martyrdom in the treacherous zionist strike west of Gaza City yesterday morning.
Raed Saad served as the commander of the Gaza Brigade in the early 2000s. In the 2010s he founded and led the Qassam Naval Force. He joined the Qassam General Staff and military council after 2014 and became the head of Operations until 2021.
Saad established the elite of the Qassam Brigades (the “Nukhba”) and is the mastermind behind the Walls of Areeha plan to crush the Gaza Division and formed the basis for Al-Aqsa Flood.
Below we publish Al-Qassam’s statement honoring the fallen fighter.

Who ascended to glory as a martyr along with a number of his mujahideen brothers, yesterday, Saturday, 22 Jumada al-Akhira 1447 AH, corresponding to 13/12/2025, following a cowardly assassination operation carried out by the criminal zionist enemy in a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement. Our great commander departed to his Lord after a great and long journey of sacrifice and giving in various fields of jihad and resistance, crowned by his leadership of the Al-Qassam manufacturing system, which formed one of the most important pillars in the creativity of our resistance on October 7th, and then its infliction of heavy losses on the occupation army and confronting its aggression against our people during the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle.
By assassinating our leaders and our people, and its daily and continuous aggression against our people in various areas of the Gaza Strip, the Nazi enemy has crossed all red lines. It is disregarding “Trump’s plan”, and Trump and the mediators must bear responsibility for these dangerous transgressions and this repeated rampage against our people, our resistance fighters, and our leaders.
Our right to respond to the occupation’s aggression is guaranteed, and we have the right to defend ourselves by all means.
We announce today that the Al-Qassam leadership has appointed a new commander to carry out the tasks previously held by our martyred Sheikh Abu Muath. We affirm that our path of jihad will not stop, and the assassination of leaders will not weaken us; rather, it will increase our strength, steadfastness, and determination to continue the path they drew with their blood.
This has always been the custom of our great people and the mujahid Hamas movement, which today completes 38 years of jihad, giving, and sacrifice for the sake of Allah, then for Palestine and its Al-Aqsa, and in defense of our people and our just cause. Allah is with us and will not let our deeds go to waste. “And Allah is predominant over His affairs, but most of the people do not know.”

Ich bin der Held der Fahrpläne in Hannover im Herzen von Niedersachsen🙋🏻♂️😁
Diese Woche wird eine kurze Woche, ab Freitag wird Resturlaub abgebaut und die Familie besucht.
Am Wochenende konnte ich den Bahnhofsumbau abschließen, ich muss nur noch die Linien programmieren. Es sind auch weniger Weichen geworden und 34 Fahrstraßen konnte ich einsparen. Dennoch bin ich flexibel (soweit bei vollautomatischen Betrieb möglich) und konfliktfreier unterwegs als vorher.

La pregunta no es si merece la pena gobernar, sino si es posible hacerlo
Hoy lunes, 15 de diciembre, el presidente Sánchez hará su tradicional balance del año. Exhibirá logros, que no son pocos, y hará un resumen de su ejercicio de rendición de cuentas al que se bautizó como Cumpliendo, una iniciativa pionera que se inició en 2020 y que ojalá se consolide. Al acabar su discurso será obligado que los periodistas le pregunten por los casos de corrupción, por las denuncias de acoso machista en el interior del PSOE y por las exigencias de explicaciones y cambios que los socios del Gobierno piden al presidente.
Más allá de este balance, hay otro de carácter estratégico que Sánchez está obligado a hacer. Quizá ya lo haya hecho en la intimidad, aunque es posible que no quiera compartirlo. Se trata de determinar si aún es posible hacer políticas progresistas efectivas desde el actual Gobierno de coalición. No si merece la pena o no gobernar, como insistió este domingo en el mitin de Cáceres, sino si es posible hacerlo para impulsar políticas progresistas.
El contexto es conocido: Junts tensando la cuerda –aunque no llegue a romperla, al menos, hasta que Puigdemont vuelva a España amnistiado–, el PNV pidiendo elecciones si el PSOE no cierra la hemorragia de escándalos, ERC diciendo que la corrupción es sistémica y Sumar, consciente de que su cercanía al PSOE le puede pasar factura ante los casos de acoso y corrupción, pidiendo un cambio drástico en el Gobierno.
El papel de los socios y de los apoyos parlamentarios del Ejecutivo es complicado. Saben que pueden salir salpicados si no marcan distancias. Por eso se esfuerzan en mostrarse tajantes y exigen medidas contundentes que incluyen una remodelación del Consejo de Ministros, si bien los problemas están más en el Partido Socialista que en el Ejecutivo. Si su órdago no genera reacción en Moncloa, sólo les queda una opción: retirar el apoyo parlamentario unos, abandonar el Gobierno otros, y encomendarse a todos los dioses para que nadie presente una moción de censura que les obligue a retratarse. ¿Se atreverán a hacerlo, sabiendo que podría ser la puerta de entrada de Vox al Gobierno de España? Entre lo malo y lo peor.
La situación no es mejor en el interior del PSOE. Asediado por las presuntas tramas de corrupción que se van conociendo y por denuncias de acosos ocultados o no gestionados con la diligencia debida, el fuego amigo se multiplica. Quienes llevan tiempo esperando su momento empiezan a moverse, y los que ven que llegan curvas se posicionan para el día después. Todo se mezcla en un mejunje de presunta corrupción, acoso, amistades peligrosas y vendettas pendientes. ¿Cuándo caen los líderes? Cuando su partido les deja caer.
Así las cosas, el presidente Sánchez sigue afirmando su voluntad de agotar la legislatura para avanzar en el camino del progreso y cerrar el paso a un gobierno de la extrema derecha y la derecha extremada. La pregunta es obligada: en el caso de que los socios y los parlamentarios propios mantengan su apoyo, y el interior del partido no acabe por implosionar, ¿sigue siendo posible avanzar en políticas progresistas, o la situación va a exigir un ejercicio de contorsionismo como el que se exhibió en el proyecto de ley de multirreincidencia propuesto por Junts y que contará con el apoyo de PP, Vox y el PSOE?
Si la respuesta es positiva, Sánchez deberá esforzarse no sólo en cortar de cuajo, como secretario general que es del PSOE, los problemas de acoso y la negligente gestión de las denuncias y limpiar cualquier atisbo de corrupción de su entorno. Tendrá que hacer creíble, además, que pone todo su empeño en ello y demostrarlo con hechos concretos. Si, por el contrario, la continuidad de las políticas progresistas no es posible, ya nada tendrá sentido, y cuanto antes termine el drama, antes podrán los socialistas, y el conjunto de la izquierda, iniciar la travesía por el desierto.

A tenor de las previsiones, la primera, la de la portavoz y ministra de Educación Pilar Alegría; la segunda, nada menos que la vicepresidenta primera y ministra de Hacienda.
Lo peor que podrían hacer quienes dirigen La Moncloa, el PSOE y el país es negar la gravedad de la situación, esperar a que las vacaciones y el tiempo desinflen el soufflé y aguardar a que los acuerdos PP-Vox que se van a ir cerrando en las Comunidades Autónomas vuelvan a producir una movilización de la izquierda y una desmovilización de los conservadores más moderados, como ocurrió el 23J. Se olvidan de que el electorado progresista no perdona tan fácilmente, que estos casos pesan como losas en la memoria y la moral de su militancia, y que Vox, a tenor de todas las encuestas, ha dejado de dar miedo para pasar a normalizarse como una opción más. Podrán consolarse con que el PP, en el peor momento de la izquierda, no acaba de despegar, y es cierto. Pero soñar con que la subida de la ultraderecha humille a los populares no deja de ser incubar el huevo de la serpiente. Presidente, haga el balance.

I came across this on mastodon too. A post linking a blog piece I thought misrepresented a political philosopher, so I checked the citations - which made no sense. I replied to the post - and the author said they were compiled using AI.
The minimum we need is a warning that AI has been used for such things - so we know not to waste time taking the results seriously.

I managed to inoculate myself against the hype almost from the start by asking ChatGPT 3.5 questions about something I knew well, and getting unambiguous confabulated bullshit in response. I then saw plenty of other confabulated bullshit in other topics, all of which I could easily verify was bullshit. My own take on all that — all in the first few months of ChatGPT’s public release — was “it gets numerous easily verified facts wrong, so it is *not trustworthy* on anything”. It was astonishing to see so few other people I know come to the same conclusion.

in reply to Gerry McGovern • • •@dpnash I’ve never used it, didn’t bother to check for any serious research in law because I already knew it was weighing blog posts from lawyers equally with blog posts from non-lawyers , nevermind “reddit-lawyers”, and it can’t be trusted to deliver complete and accurate results. I don’t use it for drafting because my clients expect 25 years of experience, not common answers. Resulting value to me: zero.

One of the first things I tried was asking the bot to write a brief introduction to myself. It got a lot right -- after all, there's a long Wikipedia article. Then it made up a fictional book with a strangely unspecific title and claimed that I'd written it. (No, not the Necronomicon.)

Experts differ on color of sky. "Blue" say some.
They are disowning responsibility for any judgement, even as they are making those judgments implicitly by editorial decisions. It is cowardice. The sky is blue. The citations are fake. Any disagreements are either disingenuous or picking nits.

So why the quotation marks? They convey that the statement is subject to opinion. Now, if they're reporting eye-witness accounts, ok, the evidence comes from a source that can't be checked. But in this case the citations are clearly visible and checkable. They could check them and find them fake. Why not?
Journalism has to accept responsibility for stating the truth, not just citing people who state things.
