a flatpak (taking 2-3GB to install, good luck on a 32GB disk that you daily-drive from!) is frozen on an older version and still works...

For 2.0 it can be any distro with the flatpak, or compiling things on any distro pre-4.18 Mobian Bookworm, postmarketOS 24.12 , or the use of a to be created unofficial repo, which I put on my todo list for postmarketOS 24.12/Alpine 3.21).
In theory one could also make a distro blend/custom thing that just boots into Megapixels and nothing else 😂
