Survived bicycling to my city's bicycle advisory group meeting, LOL. Had to take the sidewalk near city hall, too dangerous for me on the sharrow. Think I irked some of the other people (again) complaining (about sharrows) and everything in general. #BikeTooter #infrastructure

Favorite comments (from well meaning cycle club members): "you are just supposed to use the lane like you are a car" (or something to that effect)

My replies: "You are probably going 45. I am going 10 or 15 miles an hour, maybe slower uphill! You think a 10 year old bicycling to school could use a sharrow?"

(Yes, I was probably being a PITA).

I do feel like I am not enough of a cyclist to qualify for the "bicycle advisory group" we currently have if they took applications for "bcicyling experience", ha ha, everywhere there apparently has decades of road racing experience, LOL. (with the exception of @technotion, who I appreciate as a fellow "use cycling to get around" person)

Mostly feels like: retired, have been cycling all of their life, probably competitive cyclist of one form or another, at the amateur level at least... part of an organized club. I'm sure good folks if I got to know them better... (a few folks here! Hi guys!) But I think the considerations for road bicycling with a club (and experience level of "real" cyclists) can be dramatically different than "would like to see more people bicycling to the store/work/school". There is a segment that are cyclists who also are urban planners/transportation background professionally (who do seem to understand the "not an old road cyclist in a club" issues a LOT BETTER). And surprisingly, almost no MTB representation, except the folks from the bike team there (hi all!)... maybe they just don't have a lot to say about roads....

@Jack
