O H5N1 de alta patogenicidade (gripe aviária bastante letal para animais) que está em circulando em aves selvagens atualmente é especialmente capaz de saltar entre animais diferentes. Já se estabeleceu em granjas nos EUA e causou casos em humanos (além de ter saltado para vacas).
Nossas práticas de criação e circulação de aves selvagens aqui podem ter atrasado a circulação do vírus em granjas no Brasil, mas essa sempre foi uma possibilidade com o vírus tão presente nas Américas. Daí a importância da vigilância das aves selvagens e dessa primeira detecção em granjas por aqui.
O risco atual não está na carne ou nos ovos, mas sim no vírus circular entre outras granjas e passar para os criadores. Quanto mais circular em granjas, mais aves morrem e/ou precisam ser sacrificadas e mais caro fica a carne e o ovo, o que já acontece nos EUA e encareceu o ovo que exportamos.
Alguns países, como a China, têm vacinas contra gripe aviária para aves. Não sei como está esse processo no Brasil, se temos, se poderíamos licenciar ou desenvolver. Nossa indústria de vacinas veterinárias é bem robusta. asm.org/articles/202...
