🏛️ Contexto político
Último año del franquismo: Francisco Franco murió el 20 de noviembre de 1975, tras casi 40 años en el poder. Ese año fue el final de una dictadura y el inicio de una transformación histórica. Príncipe Juan Carlos fue proclamado Rey de España el 22 de noviembre de 1975, con promesas de apertura democrática, aunque todavía con muchas incertidumbres. Existía una férrea censura, represión política y limitaciones severas a la libertad de prensa, expresión y asociación.
🏘️ Sociedad
Una sociedad todavía conservadora y tradicionalista, marcada por la influencia de la Iglesia y el nacionalcatolicismo. Se vivía en muchos hogares con roles de género tradicionales: el hombre proveedor, la mujer dedicada al hogar (legalmente, las mujeres aún necesitaban permiso del marido para muchas gestiones). El divorcio, el aborto o el matrimonio civil eran ilegales o extremadamente limitados.
📺 Cultura y medios
Solo había dos canales de televisión (TVE 1 y TVE 2), y todos los programas pasaban por censura previa. Programas como Un, dos, tres… o Estudio 1 eran populares, y las películas extranjeras solían doblarse con censura incluida. La música española estaba dominada por cantantes como Raphael, Camilo Sesto, Rocío Jurado, Nino Bravo (aunque había muerto en 1973), mientras surgía una canción protesta semiclandestina.
🏙️ Economía
España estaba saliendo del llamado “milagro económico español” (1959-1973), pero empezaba a sufrir los efectos de la crisis del petróleo. La inflación y el desempleo comenzaban a preocupar, aunque aún existía un cierto bienestar en clases medias urbanas. Muchas familias aún vivían del campo o en zonas rurales, aunque la emigración hacia las ciudades (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao…) había sido intensa durante los 60.
🚗 Vida cotidiana
La vida era más austera: muchos hogares no tenían aún teléfono, coche o televisión a color. El Seat 600 fue el coche más emblemático de esa generación. El ocio era más familiar o comunitario: ir al cine, salir al bar, la misa, las fiestas del pueblo… La moda empezaba a cambiar: los jóvenes imitaban el estilo hippie o pop europeo, aunque con restricciones impuestas por el régimen.
🌍 España en el mundo
España era todavía un país aislado de Europa, sin pertenencia a la CEE (hoy UE), ni a la OTAN. En octubre de 1975 se produjo la Marcha Verde: Marruecos ocupó el Sáhara Occidental ante una España debilitada por la enfermedad de Franco, dejando un conflicto que aún hoy sigue vivo.
