"Using the app as a launcher"
I'll admit, the idea of using @homeassistant as a "Launcher" caught me off guard for a second. My pseudo-decaffeinated brain was trying to work out how I'd use the #HomeAssistant app as a launcher replacement on my phone. It took me longer than I care to admit to figure out this will replace some 3rd party apps to use phones/tablets as Home Assistant screens. Now that I've figured out what they're talking about, great idea! Love it!

With Mastodon v4.4.0 instance owners can enable HTTP referrers. That means:
If somebody clicks a link in a Mastodon post (e.g. to a news article), the link target owner (such as the news site operator) can see that a user from that instance has visited their website.
They do _only_ get the instance domain (e.g. metalhead.club). No information about the user!
I've enabled this setting, because I am sure that it will increase awareness of Mastodon's existence. 💪

Two tools are needed: (a) inheritance tax (which worked well in the UK circa 1940-1980) and (b) wealth tax (over a threshold excluding a first home and a regular person's pension).
What we've got now: the bottom 50% bear 90% of the tax burden.

we need it directly funded by the people, absolutely.
but their system relies on driving attention. whether that's the big outlets, TV, radio, cable or big tech social media algos. wealthy owners and advertisers decide what gets pushed.
it doesn't have to be this way anymore.
getting everybody on decentralized social media without ads or algos where the public actually decides what info, ideas and art goes viral is now possible.
