The image is a text-based scenario set in a cafe during a morning shift. It begins with a description of the scene: "I am working a morning shift at a cafe. We are serving breakfast. A little boy and his mother enter the cafe." The text then presents a dialogue: "Me: 'So, what will it be?'" followed by the child's response, "Child: 'I WISH TO DEVOUR THE UNBORN.'" This statement causes a sudden silence, and the mother looks embarrassed. The mother then says, "Mother: 'Eggs... he would like some eggs...'" The text is presented in a simple, black font on a white background, with the dialogue in a larger font size to emphasize the child's statement.

Perhaps it's just me, but I do find it amusing that the GNU Readline 8.3 announcement, in July 2025, gives two FTP URLs as the primary way to obtain the software. I don't remember when I last fired up an FTP client, and my web browser has long since forgotten how to do it too.

my web host won't let me ssh in unless I pay lots more money, which is how I re-learned that both sides have to agree on BINARY mode and all clients default to ASCII
in reply to Valerie Aurora 🇺🇦

Ah, '80s FTP.

I recall a text adventure puzzle where an in-game terminal with an ftp client let you teleport objects. If left in ASCII mode, a transporter-accident "worthless pile of protoplasm" resulted.

To this day I have not understood why the hell Firefox and other browsers had to drop FTP support.

The video features a small, cream-colored kitten lying on its back on a gray surface, appearing relaxed with its eyes closed. A person's hands enter the frame, holding a piece of seaweed. The hands carefully place the seaweed around the kitten's body, wrapping it snugly. The kitten remains still and undisturbed throughout the process. The hands then use two chopsticks to gently lift the seaweed, creating the illusion that the kitten is being served as sushi. The kitten continues to lie peacefully, seemingly unaware of the playful setup. The video concludes with the kitten still wrapped in the seaweed, with the chopsticks positioned above it, enhancing the whimsical sushi presentation.

An amateur astronomer may have just spotted the first known comet (or asteroid) impact on Saturn.

We've seen impact flashes on the Moon & Jupiter, but this would be by far the most distant one yet observed. 🧪🔭

Bloomberg: The Texas Floods Were Made Worse by Climate Denialism

Elected officials must be held accountable, now and in the future, for the lives lost in disasters brought on by increasingly extreme weather.

By Michael R. Bloomberg

"...The tragic news out of central Texas has been heartbreaking, but it’s also been maddening — because so many lives could have been saved if elected officials had done their jobs. They owe the families who lost loved ones — the death toll from the Fourth of July floods is now at more than 100 — more than thoughts and prayers. They owe them a sincere commitment to righting their deadly wrong, by tackling the problem they’ve turned their backs on for too long: climate change...."

The image features a woman holding a glass of beer against a blue background. She is wearing a black dress with thin straps and a bracelet on her wrist. The text on the image reads "Alcohol! Because Sometimes the Truth Needs a Laxative." The woman is depicted in a vintage style, with her hair styled in an updo and wearing dangling earrings. The glass of beer is held in her right hand, and the beer appears to be a light-colored lager with a frothy head. The overall tone of the image is humorous, with the text suggesting a playful connection between alcohol and the idea of revealing the truth.

What is this new Bitchat scam that crypto-bros think is good?

My friend was telling me of this, thinking since its crypto related it must be really good. I said this has been around for many years and there are much better solutions than any that Jack is going to come up with to scam us. Have you guys heard of this?

I have to laugh at these tech-bros that actually know nothing, thinking they are great genius inventors. Reminds me of fElon.

Pro doesn't like this.
