To my knowledge no one told them anything like that, no one said they wanted to prohibit public transit, paratransit or ride shares. To me, saying bicycles are the future is a bit like saying cars are the present: it's the immensely more popular option at a certain time that's considered the default for people who can use it. I've personally never seen a bicycle enthusiast who wanted to ban public transit or ride shares so maybe we agree?
