Maybe a separate regional channels for alerts would make sense? Meshtastic community in Kyiv Ukraine relays all air alerts and while it was intended for total blackout scenarios which are rare, it has its users.

LoRa has really amazing reach. But I find that meshtastic is pretty useless in our area as everyone just puts a node up but doesn't use it.

That's why I enjoy #LoRa #APRS It does well and has some use, and it is linked to APRS-IS through i-gates.
