NPR ran a story this morning about weather warnings before the Texas flash flood. Much of the focus in network news has been on the lack of cell phone warnings due, in part, to spotty coverage. Turns out that NOAA has VHF weather broadcasts throughout most of the country including the Guadalupe River. A basic receiver costs about $20 on Amazon. Mo Ranch may have been listening and evacuated because of those broadcasts. We probably won’t know until the civil suits start.
@Robgbysea I don’t care where you live I think everyone should have a weather radio. I can actually get them at my grocery stores because I live in a hurricane prone area. I know that Lowe’s, Home Depot and Costco, Ace Hardware and many other stores carry them. You really don’t have to give Jeff Bezos your money.

Mastodon 4.4 is out now, and it brings changes for profiles and lists and also lays the groundwork for quote posts. With #profiles, you can feature specific hashtags so that people can see all the posts you’ve tagged with those hashtags. Mastodon is also making a change to how #pinned posts work: you can still pin up to five posts onto your profile, but they’ll now show up as a single carousel -- so you don’t have to scroll down as far to see new posts. When you’re looking at a profile, Mastodon can now tell you how many people you follow also follow that person.
For lists, Mastodon says that Creating and managing #lists has been significantly streamlined -- it’s easier than ever to add and remove accounts from your lists both directly from profiles and from your own follows and followers listings.
And with #quote posts, which Mastodon already said were in the works, the platform is doing what it calls “part one” of implementation.
