When I still lived there I lived in some old forest areas, so I often had to call them to come get the snakes, bats, from my house (which is a pretty different experience from how others experience Singapore)

Hey, my #Hawaii folk. What do you think of this mini-documentary by Georg Rockall-Schmidt. I don't know much about this topic but found it fascinating.
Because I've often thought "They grow pineapples in Hawaii, right?" But also knew "All the food is so expensive there because it's imported."
I didn't know Dole destroyed the soil with those pineapple farms. And there is much more.

One obvious question: Why would you waste money to grow mangoes in Hawai'i in a greenhouse when the temperature never approaches 32F on Lana'i ever.
Everybody used to grow mangoes in their yards. Mango trees grow so well and so high their roots were reaching under houses and walls and destroying them. But the fruit is ono.

Lots to improve about our management of wildlife and environment but in general I think it’s pretty unique how there is actual a blend of mega city plus rainforest and wildlife if you know where to look
