I was looking into lamps that emulate sunlight because it affects my mood but there are times where I can't go outside/can't get as much sun as I want. I've learned that Seasonal Affective Disorder lamps are usually set on a timer for 10,000 lux after you're already awake (and consequently helps you wake up more easily). I've been avoiding getting a smart plug, but even if I did, it seems that it may be too bright to awaken to directly? On the other hand, sunset/sunrise lamps that turn on automatically essentially never get that bright at all, they serve more as soft time "clocks", which also can also help you both wake up and go to sleep more easily.
which one seems more useful (especially in the dark winter, or when in a place that doesn't have a lot of sunlight because of a non-south facing window)? Do you have either?
